The Great Debate - Ice Cream Cone vs. Cup
The debate rages.
Inside us all is a network of neurons that form the basis for who we are. They coordinate simple functions like walking and talking, and they form complex thoughts on the nature of the universe and what we’re going to watch on TV. All of this happens without us even noticing. And this vast array of cells we call a brain can lead to some subconscious decision making…decisions that say a lot about who we are. Nowhere is this more noticeable than in the great decision Jason’s Deli customers face every day: cup or cone?
By now you all know that Jason’s Deli offers free ice cream to its guests. But what you don’t know is the inner battle that rages inside us all when the decision must be made. Sure, some of you may think that the outcome is insignificant. After all, it is the ice cream that matters, right?
Wrong. Through extensive research, we here at Jason’s Deli Love Bites have come to realize that the cup vs. cone debate is more than simply an edible vs. inedible container matter. It highlights the variety in humanity that makes life so beautiful. Let’s delve into this some more.
One thing is clear. The cone option appears to be the most popular. In our extensive research that was conducted in a 15 minute span during a late lunch, we discovered that more than ¾ of the Jason’s Deli clientele chose the cone over the cup & spoon. But why? Some liked the crunch of the cone, signifying a complex personality, unsatisfied with the simple smooth texture of ice cream. Others were on the go, and the cone allows one-handed ice cream consumption, freeing the other hand to search for keys and grasp door handles.
Who chooses the cup and spoon method of ice cream distribution? People with time to savor the ice cream. It is clear that this method of consumption is preferred by conversationalists. The “I get an hour and a half for lunch” crowd. The “family time should be enjoyed at a Jason’s Deli table” crowd. Or, more commonly, the “I like melted ice cream pudding” crowd.
We live in a time of difficult decisions. Elections, budgets and lifestyles all tie up our brains’ functions. But whether it’s cup or cone, let’s remember one thing…boy, that ice cream is good!
