Schools Partner with Jason’s deli to Reward Students

Life as a teacher comes with its own set of challenges. Keeping up with grades and homework, developing lesson plans, and classroom management leave little time for much else.
Fort Bend (Texas) Independent School District, however, believes in making the time to reward students’ good behavior, and Jason’s deli has been able to help them accomplish this through our JD Pickle cards. The JD Pickle cards are available to schools through our Community Partners Program and are redeemable for one FREE kids’ meal for students 12 and under.
Fort Bend ISD began awarding JD Pickle cards in their elementary schools nearly a decade ago when they were looking for a way to reward good character traits. “You always see the negative first, and [Fort Bend ISD] is trying to change the mindsets of parents and teachers to catch kids doing something good,” says Mel Morgan, Community Relations and Partnerships professional with FBISD.
The practice of rewarding kind acts and good behavior has paid off for this school district. Parents enjoy the cards because they can look forward to a worry-free meal with their well-behaved children. For students, especially for the very young ones, tangible rewards give them something they can understand and work to earn. And, of course, teachers enjoy the positive impact this program has had on their classrooms!
