I don’t have a gluten allergy, but I have friends who do. I think working toward creating more meal options for those with a gluten allergy is fantastic.

  • Jim Hicks

    Yes, definitely.

  • Kathy Carten

I tried to vote, but couldn’t get any voting button and this was all I could figure out to do. YES and DEFINITELY.

  • Anne-Marie

I only ask that you be mindful of the ingredients in the GF bread… so many of them are so full of fruit juice that they end up being very high in sugar and don’t even taste very good.

  • April Riggs

I may not be a celiac or have a gluten intolerance but I understand the importance of offering a GF choice at your restaurant and think it’s a great idea! So folks that have to be GF are limited on where they can eat out, so it’d be great if they had another choice!

  • Mindy

Having gluten free offerings is lovely, but the biggest concern for those with this problem is the issue of cross contact (aka cross contamination). We require a HUGE amount of assurance that the staff knows what this means and takes proper precautions. As a matter of fact, someone treated our office and brought in food from Jason’s Deli (we could order whatever we wanted), but I declined to order anything. Why? Because I know how busy your restaurant is and I’ve seen the prep area. There is no way that cross contamination could be avoided. I could not take the risk of becoming very ill by accident.

My other issue for eating out right now is the fact that the gluten has given me severe Celiac Disease (severe malabsorption) and I’m hypersensitive to many foods. I currently can’t have eggs, soy, dairy, white potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, legumes, tree nuts, and eggplant.

It is rare indeed for a chain restaurant to be able to creatively meet the needs of those suffering from intolerances and/or allergies.

It would be a great addition to the Jason’s Deli menu to add gluten-free bread. There are many people who live with gluten sensitivity and Celiac Disease. Others live the gluten-free lifestyle by choice. It is hard to find GF bread in mainstream restaurants so it would be great if you guys offered one, you have so many locations!

  • sarah

I would love to have the option of eating a gluten-free sandwich somewhere other than at home! My main concern is that gluten-free bread and/or sandwiches could potentially be cross contaminated with gluten, especially in a sandwich shop; if cross-contamination issues were seriously addressed (i.e., separate counters and utensils for gluten-free preparation) I would absolutely eat at Jason’s Deli.

  • D Nelson

If you can get bread as good as Udi’s then it will be a winner, otherwise don’t bother. also need to be very wary of food prep precautions and cross contamination, i have seen prep and that won’t be acceptable.

  • Kimberly Hicks

My daughter has celiac disease and we would be so grateful to have a GF option at Jason’s!! One of the best tasting options is Udi’s brand.

  • Cindy

Oh gluten free sandwiches would be great! With my job I travel from coast to coast and it is a hassel to pack my own bread, and then to find something somewhere to make a sandwich. My vote is double…..YES!

  • Bec

Would LOOOVE to have more options for my family when we go out!
(YUP the WHOLE family has celiac!)

  • Brian

Me and my wife loved eating at the local Jason’s in Franklin, TN up until a couple years ago when I found out I have an allergy to gluten.

Since then I drive wistfully by it often… we would definitely begin eating there again if there were more gluten free options.

  • Jennie

I am always on the look out for new restaurants that offer Gluten free and dairy free menues.

  • Lucas

My wife and I would eat at Jason’s a minimum of 3 times per week. You would corner the market in Phoenix. 500+ ordered from a gluten-free bakery the FIRST DAY it was open. The market is here.

  • Jennifer

You were our very favorite sandwich place and we really miss your sandwiches since having to switch to GF. We ate here in the Fort Collins, CO location very often. Would love to see you offer GF. But PLEASE if you do, make sure you train employees on the dangers of cross-contanimation. If something gets mixed up regular flour, we get extremely ill. It’s crucial to have standards that keep the products separate. Thank you for taking a vote. We hope to visit soon, if you decide to offer GF!

  • http://www.glutenfreekidsrock.blogspot.com Nikki Everett

We eat quite regularly at the Huntersville N.C. store and have been waiting for the opportunity to arise for us to get more GF options. We vote a BIG YES YES YES!!!

  • Stephanie

Yes. I have Celiac Disease, and I know of a Jason’s Deli near my work. I would love to have another opportunity for lunch!!!!! I have to say though that the only way the gluten free community would come is if you are serious about cross contamination in your kitchen during prep. It’s a lot of training for staff to understand and be careful about food prep. It’s a lot more work than just having the gluten free option available. People with celiac disease or gluten intolerance are on strict diets and can have reactions to eating just a breadcrumb and others cannot even touch items that contain gluten or they get a skin reaction. I know of other deli’s who have done this with success and it is a growing market of people out there who would be interested. I for one encourage this COMPLETELY!!!!

  • momof3boys32

I just started my GF journey and I am delighted to hear you may offer GF choices!

After reviewing your website, I feel confident that you will be careful of food prep and cross contamination. You seem to truly take pride in what you serve.

    Bring on the GF!!

  • Moira

I go to the Jason’s Deli in Willow Grove, PA as much as possible. My biggest bummer about being celiac was not being able to get sandwiches anymore!!! Please add some more gluten free options like soups, and I would love love love gluten free bread!!!

  • Tai

The gluten free community needs more options! This would be so great!! But please keep in mind dedicated prep areas and proper training of employees so there is not a chance of cross contamination with gluten products!

  • Rosemary

Although 20 miles out of my way, I WOULD travel to go to Jason’s for a Gluten Free sandwich. My whole family has Celiac Disease (it’s genetic) and can’t ever eat out anything “good”. (I am so SICK of SALADS – BLECH!) To be able to go to a place and have an honest-to-goodness delicious sandwich with all the fixin’s and enjoy it and not worry – YES, I would go there and YES we would become life long customers!

Please make our Gluten Free Dreams come true!!!!

    From NW Atlanta Area

  • nicolle glover

Perhaps a gluten free, egg free option? As well, please be mindful of cross contamination during food prep. A separate area totally free from any sort of gluten product, and a change of gloves prior to any gluten free creation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your consideration!

  • Crystal

Don’t have a restuarant near me (Eastern Ohio about 45 mins from Pittsburgh, probably a great market!) but I visit Columbus frequently and would definitely stop in your Dublin branch if you offered GF foods! Thanks for considering this. Your menu looks awesome and if I could eat gluten I’d be there.

  • Trish

Love the idea of being able to get GF sandwiches or wraps. Pei Wei has a great Vietnamese Chicken Salad Rolls.

  • Martha

Having a severe wheat allergy, I can tell you that offering gluten-free sandwiches would be a God send. Also, be careful of cross-contamination. The ingredients used in GF meals should NEVER come in contact with the ingredients used in meals with gluten. Hands needs to be washed/gloves changed just prior to making anything gluten free. It takes 1 crumb to cause a major problem. So, cross-contamination must be addressed or offering gluten free sandwiches is useless because the won’t really be safe.

  • Brenda

I wish you had a location in my area. I would definately be interested is a resturant that had gluten free items to offer someone that is gluten intolerant. I am newly diagnosed and finding it to be quite the challenge when eating out with friends.

  • Wendy Werner

I think it is fabulous that you are considering GF options!! Eliminating the possibility of cross contamination should be addressed. People with serious sensitivities to gluten (myself included)could still get sick from their gluten free product touching the same surfaces as non-gluten free products. Or from gloves not being changed before touching the gluten free stuff.

  • Deanna

If you do start carrying gluten-free rolls, please be sure to thoroughly research cross contamination issues, keep the rolls in separate containers at the opposite end of the food prep area (perhaps even having a smaller, separate prep area just for the gluten-free sandwiches), and properly train your staff to be sensitive with gluten-free customers. The effort shown here is terrific, but it’s frankly useless if we can still be made sick from cross contamination.

  • http://adventuresandmishaps.wordpress.com/ Flitryss

Yes PLEASE! There is a Jason’s withing a mile of my office, and lunches out, especially with a group, are often limited by my gluten free-ness, usually I just go along and get a salad.

Please also take note of cross contamination issues, those with celiac disease need more than just gluten free bread, they need dedicated utensils, etc.

    Thanks for thinking of us!

  • Kristin Caudill

I have Celiac disease and would LOVE another option for eating out. My coworkers love going to Jason’s Deli. Please be mindful of the fact that even gluten free sandwiches need to be prepared away from other sandwiches. Just because the bread is safe, doesn’t mean the crumbs from the other breads are. Unfortunately it’s a little more complicated than just offering the bread! Thanks for asking and I hope to see this option coming soon!

  • Liz

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! As another person mentioned, while in your considerations, please take into account the ingredients that could be contaminated (ie oats) and the handling of the bread. A gf piece of bread can quickly be ruined by one careless mistake.

That being said, I think it’s fantastic that you are even considering it!!! And thanks for posting ingredients on your website.

  • Stephanie

Yes! More gluten free options when dining out is a major need for the gluten intolerant community. Do educate all employees about cross contamination and assure that they know the importance of doing the best they can to keep the gluten out.

  • Erin

I have fructose malabsorbtion, which means no gluten along with the high frutose cornsyrup, I know you have gone fructose free which is a good start, but I sure miss ordering you sandwiches! Please lets make this possible!

  • Karen Gier

Would love to be able to eat at Jasons deli- soups & salads, too. However, there is a horrile risk of cross contamination – meaning you could get bread crumbs into my food accidently. I would never feel safe eating there unless I knew you have trained employees & set up the space for GF food. A lot of places say that the food is GF but they cook it on a grill right after regular bread or use gloves with which they just touched breaded food.

  • Amanda Perrin

If you offer gluten free options, make sure you educate your staff on cross contamination issues. Those of us with Celiac disease would appreciate it so much!

  • http://www.cornforthadventures.blogspot.com anika

hi :) we travel a LOT, and would actually LOOK for a Jason’s Deli if you had GF bread :) so far 5 out of 6 members of our family are gluten intolerant, with the sixth being an infant :)
the thought of an actual restaurant chain catering to the needs of celiacs and gluten intolerant persons is OUTSTANDING :) I hope more companies consider this !

  • Brian Patterson

Yes! Yes! Yes! Since my daughter and I have been diagnosed w/ a gluten intolerance we have cut back on trips to Jason’s – I can only eat so many baked potatoes. Expanding your menu will make it more attractive to eat there more often.

  • http://www.glutenfreeflorida.com Chris

My wife has the allergery and the food options are limited for us, there is little carry out or fast food type options and this is a great step for a great food chain like yours to conquer, it may be a big step, but think of how many people that do not dine at your place that does have this allergy, reseach how many Americans suffer from this and think about the new customers that will glad you did, good work, hope this furthers in the right direction!

  • GFJayne

Please please please!! I would love to be able to order from you guys! It’s so hard for me to find food I can eat, especially when I don’t have a lunch at work. So you would definitely have a new client if you did this :)

  • Heather

I would love to try a GF sandwich if you can guarantee no cross contamination with gluten on the line.

  • Donna

It would be great to have this option! Those who have to eat gluten free often have a hard time feeling normal when they’re out with friends, and this would provide a place they could choose without having to make their diet a big issue among friends and co-workers. One suggestion I’d like to make is that you include gluten-free options for the kids’ menu, as well. Even when restaurants add things that are gluten free, the kids often have fewer GF options than adults at restaurants. Providing a gluten-free kids’ sandwich or a gluten-free hot dog with gf bun would be great! Thank you for considering this!

  • Gwen

Gluten-free breads and sandwiches should not come into contact with “glutened” surfaces (i.e., cutting boards, utensils, even gloves that have touched regular wheat products), to avoid cross-contamination. Some are HIGHLY sensitive and even the slightest bit of a gluten product (as in, a crumb or two) can make them sick.
Also, I have yet to come across a commercially made chicken salad that does not contain bread crumbs. What about the chicken salad at Jason’s?

  • Lauren

I don’t have celiac’s and no one in my family does, but I still think it’s a great option to offer gluten free bread! You will definitely get more business from people who couldn’t eat there before!

  • angela

My family eats at Jason’s often. I just get a salad because I have celiac. I would certainly be more excited about the dining options and would lobby to go there even more if you have more GF choices. Thanks for considering it!

  • Pam

What I would give to eat a deli sandwich again. It’s not just the bread we worry about, we also have be careful with most of the additional products.

You might be surprised at the number of new customers you receive.

Some of the breads are terrible, but, there are some great ones out there. Be careful what you stock. Also, remind your employees that they can’t cross-contaminate, as some of us are so sensitive that even my bread touching the same area sets us off.

    Thanks for considering us.

  • MJ

Yes, definitely! Offer GF foods. I don’t have a problem, but I have many friends who do. I am all for getting our diets onto a healthier track in general, and I really appreciate Jason’s endeavors in that direction. America’s obesity problem is paramount. We are getting far too many chemicals. (Have you seen the “Bionic Burger” video on YouTube?) Antibiotics in foods are causing our kids to reach puberty far too soon – their emotional and intellectual intelligence is too far behind the physical development. I’m all for more choices as long as they are BETTER choices. Thanks for your part in the quest for better food!

  • Karen Rowe

I really like your baked potatoes but I’d like more of the toppings to be Gluten free such as the Au Ju sauce. If you could list what items are gluten free and the meat are gluten free.

Please make sure to educate staff on keeping gluten items separate in the preparation process. I love Jason’s deli but haven’t been there since being diagnosed in 2005.

  • Samantha H

Please start carrying gluten free bread. I am moving to the Charlotte area in 3 weeks and have never had the opportunity to eat a gluten free sandwich from outside my own home. I would love it and would frequent the deli

  • Joni

You don’t have a location in the Cleveland, Ohio area….yet. But when you do, if you go gluten free, I’ll be eating in your restaurant. I love your site and your proactive healthy approach, very refreshing in the food industry!

  • K

I am gluten intolerant and I miss Jason’s sandwiches. My favorite lunch (prior to diagnosis) was the soup/sandwich combo – which isn’t possible now. We order Jason’s for many of our work-related events, and I miss the wraps and sandwiches. Everyone else gets to eat Jason’s, and I bring a lunch from home.

Having a gluten-free menu would help as well. Is it safe to eat a salad dressing? Can I order any of your soups? Provide me with information and I can return to Jason’s without fear.

Oh, and I love the fact that you are HFCS-free, too. Thanks for that!

  • http://homeschooledtwins.blogspot.com Shez

I’d love to be able to buy a sandwich for the kids and myself while on the run, especially if it were dairy and soy free as well as gluten free. I’d also need to be convinced that precautions were being taken to prevent cross contamination.

  • Tempe

I am a huge fan of Jason’s Deli and feast on the salad bar often!! Great salad items that are always fresh. Also appreciate that Jason and his team are always looking for ways to h integrate new and healthy concepts into their offerings (such as NO trans fats). I cannot injest ANY gluten due to Celiac Disease and it would be awesome if the menu would include Gluten Free Sandwiches… I’d be the first in line!! Alot of times when a GF or Celiac Support Group finds out about GF offerings… we tend to flock there individually to check it out. Would be a good idea if each major market where Jason’s has establishments, they have a gathering of people who cannot eat gluten (and has tried many breads) – come do a taste test to try samples of the breads they may consider using. (“The Thoughtful Baker” – Barbara here in Charlotte) is known for her awesome GF breads that are also found in some of our restaurants here. Jason’s Deli would do well to consult her in my opinion.
Jason’s Deli: if you do start offering GF sandwiches.. MARKET IT!! I know JD doesn’t advertise… but this would be a big deal to get out to all of us who would appreciate knowing you have opened the door to actually have a sandwich at your great establishment.
Many Thanks and Hope your GF menu advances to sandwiches!

  • Luci Smith

Now you just need to open a store in Vancouver WA. Thank you for catering to us with food allergies. I would eat at your restaurants because of that.
    Luci

  • Wendy

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE this opportunity. And ya know those little garlic toast crisp things….OMGsh….PPPUUULLLLEEEEEAAAASSSSEEEEE consider making some of those GF too.

    I miss them. Bad.

Thanks…my family LOVES Jason’s Deli. It would be a dream to be able to enjoy a sandwich with them too.

  • Renee

Woo-hoo!!! I would love it!!! Have been celiac since 1995 and things keep getting better for us. Last week I had a hamburger on a bun for the first time in years at a restaurant (Breckenridge Brewery). Yea!!

  • Jamie

I have been gluten-free for 11yrs. I owned a sandwich chain for 3yrs (2006-2009 ended up selling it, not a good fit for me). Getting to the point, I offered gluten-free subs at my specific location and sold an average of 4 per day, in a town with a population of 90K. Those sales were just from word-of-mouth advertising.

I would love to see gluten-free options at Jason’s Deli. I personally have other allergies as well, including MSG which is found in gelatin and citric acid, common ingredients in gluten-free breads. My favorite brand is Canyon Bakehouse.

I know I’m just one small opinion, but I hope my comments help!

  • http://glutenfreeville.com Nancy

This would be really awesome if you had gluten free breads — providing that you trained your staff in safe handling procedures in order to avoid cross contamination issues with other bread products.

  • Beth

I haven’t been to Jason’s Deli (used to be a family favorite!) for at least 2 years, since the one in my town stopped carrying a gluten-free salad dressing. If you want to bring us back, you’ll have to let us know when you’re celiac-friendly!

  • Rebecca Burns

YES PLEASE!!!!! My 4th grade daughter is gluten intolerant and misses her sandwiches! Our family would love a deli option now that we can no longer patronize Panera Bread ( for her sake ). I applaud you for considering this step!!

  • Jennie

You wouldn’t just gain the gluten free customer. You would also gain the family that eats with them on a regular basis. As a family, we always choose to go to a place that has gluten free items that I can eat. And I think you would be the first national deli chain (at least that I know of) to offer gluten free bread choices.

  • Chris

If you do this please do your research, there are many GF breads out there that do not taste very well. In Phoenix there is a GF bakery that makes a awesome tasting bead that will work well with sandwiches. Jason’s has great food and would be a blessing for the GF community by giving them another choice for eating out. A GF choice would be a benefit to Jason’s.

  • Amy

Offering gluten free sandwiches would change my life for the better! It would finally allow me to go out to eat and not feel like a freak. Besides, you have no idea how long it has been since I had a decent sandwich.

Please, please, PLEASE do this!!!! You will not be disappointed!

  • Amy Levy

My son and I both have allergies to gluten, and the idea of being able to go out to eat to a deli and have a sandwich excites us both! The only suggestion I would have would be that the employees would really have to be brought up-to-speed on Celiac’s Disease and/or gluten intolerance especially since there is a cross-contamination issue. All that said, you offer gluten free sandwiches, I’m there!!!!

  • Amy

It is so hard for Celiac Disease patients to find places to eat out. It would be great to have a place to be able to eat sandwhiches. Usually all my son can have out is a chicken breast. He gets burned out on those. Definetley need more choices.

  • Crystal

My 18 month old son is gluten intolerant. Our options for eating out are almost none! Thank you for attempting to make the quality of life better for people with this type of intolerance. My son deserves to go into restaurants like all other children. I would hate to deprive him of something that seems so normal for other children. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  • Jacki Doak

Wonderful idea and I fully support a Gluten Free option. My concern would be that with all the other sandwiches and foods how will you avoid cross-contamination. It would be very important for all employees to understand the importance of keeping the Gluten Free food, gluten free. If you do this, you have to do it right.

  • Joseph Edmunds

As someone who has Celiac Disease, I think it would be great. However, for those with Celiac Disease, it isn’t just enough to offer GF breads. You need to be able to provide a guarantee on cross-contamination. You cannot use the same knife to cut regular bread and then cut GF bread. You cannot use the same knife to spread mayo on GF bread.. As a matter of fact, you cannot use the same mayonaisse container at all. If you take a knife used on regular bread and dip it into a mayo container, you now have contaminated the mayo, and it cannot be used on a Gluten Free sandwich. Also, a person preparing a GF sandwich cannot touch regular bread. Your employees would need to switch gloves when ever someone ordered a GF sandwich. As a matter of fact, you would have to change your entire kitchen (new knifes, new mayo, new mustard, … anything that may have become contaminated by touching regular bread either directly or indirectly) to guarantee that there wasn’t any cross contamination. It seems like a lot but this is the lives we have to live. It would be the same with someone who has a egg or peanut allergy. Also, you would have to guarantee that your meats were gluten free. A chicken breast that has been marinated in a sauce that has wheat as an ingredient (like terriaki sauce for example) is not Gluten Free and cannot be eaten by someone who is a celiac. The bottom line, being Gluten Free isn’t just about the bread a sandwich is made on it is about everything the sandwich is made of and where it has been…

  • Jaime

Please add this option to your menu..I have 3 children with celiac that have to be on a gluten free diet. I think this is a great idea. It is so nice when we are able to go to places and order food out. Even with more and more gluten free options comeing available. A gluten free sandwich not made at home is so hard to find.

  • Janet

We used to eat at Jason’s regularly, but my husband has Celiac, so no more wheat for him. It’s torture for him to see us eating all the bread he used to enjoy, so we’ve stayed out of Jason’s. It would be great if you had a GF sandwich for him – especially if the bread was good!

  • Elle Bee

GF bread is a fantastic idea and it would no doubt be a huge hit. The biggest thing to worry about here, after taste/quality of GF bread, is to make sure cross contamination does not happen while making the GF sandwiches. Employees will have to be well-trained…

  • Caroline Gort

Thanks for looking into this very real need. It is so hard as someone with a gluten allergy to find healthy, easy food. We’d love to have Jason’s Deli as an option for our family. Be sure though, to educate your employees on the issues of cross contamination. Those of us who cannot digest gluten can’t eat even a crumb, so food prep needs to be separate (separate knives, condiments, cutting board) It really isn’t that hard for restaurants to do, but everyone who touches the food needs to understand.

    Thanks again!

  • Crystal

Please offer a gluten free option on your menu!! However, please be aware of the importance of a gluten free area to prepare foods. Cross contamination & cross contact are big dangers for individuals with gluten intolerance.

  • Maureen Nichols

That would be wonderful. I have several members of my family with celiac and we are regular customers of your restaurants. Please also be aware when selecting gluten free baked goods that many people with celiac have problems with canola oil as well.

  • Athena Perusse

We use to eat at Jason’s Deli quite a bit until both my son and myself had to become Gluten-free. If Jason’s Deli does bring gluten-free options we will definitely be back.

Some of the GF flours contain garbanzo or fava bean flour giving them a metallic taste.

  • Holly

Without a doubt, gluten intolerance is growing as wel as food allergies and sensitivities…offering a wheat and corn-free option would be perfect.
There are MANY many brands and even local bakeries that bake bread like this.
I live in Colorado Springs, and Outside the Breadbox is a bakery in Old Colorado City that only bakes these breads and rolls, and also delivers to local stores.
I also have a canola oil allergy, so Im doubly whomped when I want to eat out.
If Jason’s Deli really did offer Gluten/corn-free bread options I would be eating there a few times a month, whereas now I dont eat out hardly ever.
    Thanks.

  • http://www.lifewave.com/ptl4life Valerie

this is so awesome that you are even considering the gluten free menu! Hope it happens as more and more people are modifying their diet eliminating the gluten…
check out my website http://www.lifewave.com/ptl4life for more healthy lifestyle choices!!! Val

  • Carmen

I can’t tell you how wonderful it would be to eat a Jason’s Deli sandwich again. To have G-Free option would be so delightful. Me and my 23 month old are both celiac and it would be so great to have a place to go for a good rueben or peanut butter and jelly sandwich without having to hand make the bread myself.

  • Julie

Having gluten free options at restaurants is such a life saver for celiacs. When people from the office or groups of friends want to go out, it sucks to be the kill-joy who can only go to certain places. Normally Jason’s Deli would be totally out. I get TIRED of salad! Offering a gluten free sandwich would definitely make me choose you for lunch, and I would go out of my way to get it. AND, my whole group of friends or coworkers would have to eat there too!

  • Dawn

Please Please Pleaseeee offer gluten free options for us!! I haven’t been able to go get a sandwich out in four years! I miss feeling like a “regular” person with no intolerances! I have Celiac Disease and contamination would be an issue too so please dedicate an area away from the gluten and items that have touched gluten!!!

  • Anne

    YES, YES, YES!!!!

  • http://JasonsDeliGlutenFree Mary

I think this is great. My grandson is autistic and has to eat a gluten-free diet. It’s really hard to take him to eat anywhere. This would be really nice.

  • Frances Kelley

I used to love Jasons. But we have not really eaten there since my daughter was diagnosed celiac 11 years ago. I know she could have salad or a potato but she was 3 at diagnosis and these are really kid friendly options.

I am so excited to go back to Jasons.

  • Jessie Shaw

I would LOVE to see and eat gluten free sandwhiches. However, there would be a concern of cross contamination. As long as employees get crash courses in how important keeping the gluten free items away from the “deadly” crumbs. I am what they call a super sensitive celiac, and can get sick just from crumbs or residue of gluten.

Education would need to go along with the gluten free sandwhiches, but it would be AMAZING to be able to eat out on occasion along with the rest of the world.

  • Beverly Chevalier

If you carry GF bread I hope you will be careful of cross contamination.

  • Beverly Chevalier

cross contamination can be a serious set back when dealing with the gluten free diet.

  • Summer Yarbrough

If you guys start carrying gluten free bread then I would carry one that goes a step further and is allergen free. A lot of people who have rpoblem with gluten also have problems with the other top allergens. You would have more of a base to draw from if you did this.

  • Mallory

Extreme care would have to be taken to offer a gluten-free sandwich. Nothing that touches wheat can touch the ingredients or bread of a gluten-free sandwich. Extreme care and training would be required for all employees and managers on how to make a gluten-free sandwich. Ideally, there would be a seperate set of ingredients used for gluten-free sandwiches and employees would change gloves and wash hands before preparing a gluten free menu item.

However, I would rave about Jason’s Deli to all my friends if I could reliably bring my gluten-free family members there.

  • Lauren

I love Jason’s! But as a Celiac, I never eat here. If you could guarantee that cross-contamination would not occur with the bread, meats, or condiments, I would be a life long customer. Thx!

  • Monica

I live 5 miles from Jason’s and would eat there frequently if I had this option. Is there any possibility of GF soup(s) as well? Turkey and Rice is always an easy option. Just thought I would throw that out there since this is something you are thinking about.

  • jessica

I did not vote on whether or not we would purchase the sandwich because it depends… on what the other ingredients are (we have also have allergies to corn, dairy and soy) and the price – it would need to be comparable to the regular sandwich.

  • Pam Hudgins

Please do offer gluten-free food. You can verify my email address on your website, I have ordered thousands of dollars worth in catering orders. I recently foundout that I have Celiac disease and would be likely to order more if you have gluten-free bread.

  • Lee Ann Cruley

Having gluten free bread would be great for those with gluten intolerance plus other family members, such as myself, would be more likely to patronize your deli even without our gluten free relatives with us simply due to the fact that you go to this effort. My gluten free daughter now lives in Tallahassee and vists occasionally but I have now looked up your deli and am anxious to come in and give you a try. Didn’t know anything about you previously even though I live relatively close by. Thank you.

  • Amber

It is always nice to have gluten free options but I know a big concern of mine is cross-contamination. The staff has to be well educated about gluten and making sure things do not get cross-contaminated. I know I would love to be able to do it but I don’t know how willing I am to try it if people do not know what they are doing. I would love to be able to go and have a sandwich. It has been a really long time.

  • Kerry

My 5 year old has celiac, and possibly 3 of my other kids as well; our choices for eating out as a family are quite limited. A gluten-free option at Jason’s Deli would be wonderful! To benefit my family, it would need to include kid-friendly options, be affordable, and be free of cross-contamination issues. Thank you for considering this!

  • Joan Black

It would be marvelous and hey, you’ll make a bloody fortune. The future is gluten-free. oh how I dream of a hot pastrami on gluten-free rye or pumpernickle.
Four gals in my family are celiac ( I am allergic) and we are foodies! help.

  • Karen

I really like your all-natural, healthy foods ideas. And gluten free on top of that. WOW! Now if we only had one of your restaurants in northern Calif.

  • Joy

Gluten-free would be a great option. Even better would be allergen free (none of the top eight ellergens). My son cannot have gluten, dairy, eggs or soy – and all the gluten free bread I have found in stores usually contains at least one of the other of these. You could easily offer rice tortillas from Foods for Life for wraps, I think. And I agree, cross contamination can cause problems. That said, you would have a huge market if you offered this. It is so hard to find allergen free food when eating out. Ever try to get a child to eat a salad? There are not even any safe dressing options. Thanks for considering this idea!

  • http://adventuresofaglutenfreemom.com Heidi

Oh PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!! Can you do a gluten-free version of your French Onion Soup too?? :-)

  • stz

Gluten free bread would be great but I would be very concerned about the cross cotamination issue. I am very sensitive to the gluten.

  • Mindy

Are you sure you can really do this…. safely for celiacs?????

  • Cheryl

Maybe to avoid cross-contamination, the gluten-free sandwiches could be pre-made in a central gluten-free kitchen somewhere and then trucked in to the various restaurant locations? They could be wrapped really well right after being made so that when they reach the store they won’t touch anything until the customer opens them.

Then people could add their own mustard etc to taste.

But then maybe that would be too much trouble to implement. I dunno.

  • melanie

I have not had a sandwich since I was diagnosed Celiac. I will drive anywhere for a good gluten free sandwich!

  • AB

Please do!A Jason’s Deli is opening on my college’s campus, and I would absolutely love a place that I could go and eat sandwiches. Also, we have a lot of athletic camps during the summer and this would be an awesome place for the kids with Celiacs to go and a place for their parents to feel safe with them going there!

  • http://www.52sweets.com Johnna

I am a big fan of Jason’s Deli and eat GF at your locations across the country, but sure would like to have a sandwich! Udi’s bread and your sandwich goodies would be terrific! Thank you for giving this consideration!

  • Michelle McClure

Please add a gluten free option to your menu. I might actually eat at a local restaurant if you do! Please consider that there can be no cross-contamination. Also, many meats contain gluten, so you would need to label which ones are gluten free.

Thank you for considering this and for what you’ve already done to be a healthy restaurant!

  • CHERYL

In marking a vote for buying bread, I would be most concerned to know about the staff dedication to safety and the ability to assure the breads are completely away from contamination risk. Either way – I would try it because home made is best.

  • Dawn Scheininger

I would love to be able to eat a gluten free sandwich somewhere other than my home! My only concern is, can you properly train the staff to avoid cross contamination? Please say yes Rusty!

  • Melanie

I just ate at Jason’s Deli last week & was wishing that my son could eat there too. He has Celiac Disease so I don’t eat at Jason’s as often as I would like b/c I only go there if my kids are not with me.

I would love it if Jason’s could safely offer gluten-free bread. We would definitely eat there more often. Many restaurants (local italian restaurants, Maggiano’s, The Pasta House Co) are able to safely offer gf pasta and other restaurants (US Pizza, Boston’s, Pi Pizzeria, certain Uno’s locations) are able to safely offer gf pizza. I think a sandwich store safely offering gluten-free sandwiches is a logical next step. As mentioned in other comments, staff education & strict procedures would be key.

I noticed the information on your menu about no artifical trans fats, msg or high fructose corn syrup; using fresh produce trucked in daily, etc… Also loved your Real Choices selections. And continuing to keep consumers health needs in focus by offering gf bread while offering a great product – talk about a food revolution!

    Thanks for considering this idea!

  • A D Poole

I would be thrilled to be able to go to Jason’s with my family if you offer gluten free sandwiches. I have to get only salads now. Be advised that it is not only the bread to consider. Many condiments such as mayonnaise are made with gluten containing additives. We use only Hellman’s.

Thanks for the consideration and efforts.

  • Pam Waymack

I think this is a great idea and great service for those who do not eat gluten. I have friends with this condition and know they are always looking for restaurants and foods that they can eat. Jason’s would be their favorite spot! Gluten free diets are very popular and a requirement for many. Go Jason’s Deli! You are a trend setter!

  • Heather

I did put somewhat likely to order a sandwich on GF bread for only one reason. I won’t say definitely unless I know what your protocol is to prevent cross-contamination with gluten when preparing GF sandwiches. As long as the company works to ensure that ALL employees know how to prevent the cross-contamination that could make Celiac customers sick, I would love to order a GF sandwich.

  • http://www.iamgf.com Laura

Would love to see an option at Jason’s Deli. But you have to be prepared to train your staff on Cross-contamination. You will also need to check you meats and cheeses, not all are gluten free. Offering a gluten free bread isn’t enough for Celiacs, so it does take commitment. But, if you do it right we are great at getting the word out and sending our business your way.

  • Donna

What I have seen at other places is they don’t market the gluten free items, so word doesn’t get out to the general public. Then there are not enough sales and the items are discontinued. Please offer gluten free in Little Rock! :)

  • Marie

I would love for my family to be able to eat somewhere besides mexican! That’s the only type of restaurant that I’ve found that I can get a good meal for my 4 year old without gluten. I miss deli sandwiches so much. Please add gluten free bread to your menu, cross contamination isn’t that hard to prevent, you can do it!!!

  • Vicki Kent

Another thing you may not have thought of is revenue benefits of this. If there is ONE of us GF employees at a company supplied function, it would GUARANTEE that your deli would be chosen as the supplier. You’d have an edge that no other local caterer could touch.

We would need to know that the meats are GF as well. Udi’s Bread (from Denver) is the best sandwich bread so far. They are even going to be picked up by Costco. The bread can stay frozen or even sits out on the counter for up to 5 days with no problems.

    Vicki

  • Juliane

As most others have already written, the cross-contact problem looms large…You’d need a special prep area and training for your employees, or the sandwiches could be made somewhere else and pre-packaged so as not to be contaminated by gluten in the store. It’s daunting in some ways, but no more problematic than many other prep procedures. And think of the happy customers you’d win!! Celiacs and the people who love them are always looking for more options in restaurants! <3 <3 <3

  • Juliane

The comment about many meats containing gluten is wrong – I have no idea what that poster is suggesting. Meat, even sandwich meat, does NOT contain gluten. Maybe the poster was thinking that some sliced deli meats have some sort of barley malt flavoring added?? But they don’t. I’m sure you know that already, being in the business that you are.

  • Angie

My family of 8 would be thrilled to have a sandwich option! We all have either celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
As several people mentioned, cross-contamination is always a risk. One designated counter area, and clearly marked utensils used only for GF would help tremendously. I would hate for you to decline such a needed option out of fear.
All of us with c.d. know that we take a risk every time we eat outside of our our homes.
But many restaurants are now successfully providing GF options, and I cannot express how appreciated it is for a busy family of 8 when we do not have time to run home and prepare a full meal!
Thanks for considering! PF Chang’s is seeing HUGE payoff from their GF menu, and they do an AWESOME job of protecting clients from contamination. It IS possible!

  • Michelle

As much as I love your salad bar I would love to have a sandwich from time to time. Gluten-free bread that tastes good would be a very warm welcome! But as others have stated my concern is cross-contamination. Will GF bread come with training of staff to prevent cross-contamination. I am one of those who are extremely sensitive and one small crumb is enough to cause me severe pain for a few eeks as well as other issues. Please train your staff when you start selling GF bread and stress the importance to them of keeping cross-contamination from occurring.

Thank you for being a company that is concerned about health!

  • http://comcast sherri

Jason’s Deli was one of our weekly restaurant choices until I went gluten free. Your brocoli cheese soup and muffins are delicious! It would take some training of your employees to address cross-contamination issue, but I think it would be worth your efforts! And with Udi’s bread, you’re set!

  • Nan

Little Rock has very few gluten-free restaurant options – especially restaurants that truly understand kitchen prep and cross contamination. My family used to eat at our local Jason’s Deli often, until I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Boy, would it be great to be able to eat with you again, especially knowing you understand what it means to truly offer safe gluten-free choices. Thanks for considering this option!!!

  • Jean

My 3 children, my sister, my mother and myself all have celiac disease. We appreciate all efforts to increase the variety of foods available for us.

  • Mary Anne Snapp

Would LOVE to have a gluten free sandwich!! Diagnosed with celiac disease in 1998 and have longed for a good sandwich ever since.

  • Carol Meadors

The bread needs to taste really good. I won’t waste my calories on most of the GF breads I’ve tried. I don’t think Udi’s is very good either.

  • Kim Landry

Please offer gluten free sandwiches! Also I love your salad bar and would eat it VERY often if gluten free breads and crackers are offered. Please keep me posted!

    Kim Landry

  • http://www.thecraftyones.etsy.com Heather

That would be fantastic. There is a great Brazilian quick bread called Chebe that is made from yucca root and cheese. I think it makes a fantastic roll for deli sandwhiches. It would be great to have another place I could safely eat.

  • Lizzi from Kansas

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE for the deli in Topeka, KS to offer gluten free bread! I’ve known I had celiac disease for three months, and every time I drive by Jason’s Deli it’s a feat of strength to not go in. Even seeing the sign on the highway makes me sad. I used to eat there all the time and miss it SO MUCH. You would make the world brighter for thousands of celiacs if you offered g-f bread!! :-)

  • Lorraine

As someone with gluten intolerance, but who isn’t hyper sensitive, I would love to know there is a place I could quickly get a sandwich. A few suggestions I would make are to use completely new gloves and to store the GF bread away from the regular loaves.

  • Amber

Majority of my family is Gluten Free and we would love it if you gave us an option to eat a gluten free sandwich at Jason’s deli! I have heard great things about the deli but of course I avoided it like the plaque b/c it had no options for me or my family. Definitely make this option available! Thanks,
    Charlotte, NC

  • kathy

I personally know 2 people who recently were advised by their doctors to go GF. Thru their experience, I have learned how difficult it is to eat out when your on a GF diet. Please add some GF items to your menu. There is a need for more choices.
    Thank you,
    Kathy

  • Maxine

I have twin grandchildren who are celliac. It is hard to find a place for us to take them out to eat. The twins are now 5. One has been know celliac since 2 her twin was just found out last summer.
I can’t take them to any place to eat just McDonald’s to have a hamburger without bun. But would be so nice to get them a sandwich like others when we take them out to eat. I sure would bring them to Jason’s to eat.

  • Anita

My husband and I (a celiac person) eat at Jason’s almost every week. I always eat the wonderful salad with no dressing, but would really love a chance to add a sandwich once in awhile. Add my yes vote.

  • Carlisa

I would love too eat gluten-free at Jason’s deli. The cross contamination issue is large but do-able with training and thoughtful planning/prep.I would even LOVE to come to work with Jason’s to help develop the GF concept from menu/recipe adjustments to employee training programs and finding gluten free vendors. Udi’s bread is the best I have tasted except for homemade. Lets do it , Make the Gluten-free community and their families joyful about sandwiches and eating at Jason’s.I would love more Gluten-free options. Thanks for thinking about this option.

  • Pamela

Would LOVE to have a place that I can have GF sandwich or even soup. I miss just having a sandwich or burger. OH! GF crackers! at the salad bar!

  • http://glutenfreemadeEZ.com Dionne

I would LOVE it if you had some gluten free options. Could you make some of your soups gluten free? That would be wonderful!

  • jayme

Love to see gluten free bread!! Andrea is right around the corner and they have fresh bread daily!

  • sue

my daughter was diagnosed with this ailment recently and finding places to go out to dinner is horrible. it would be so nice to have a place she can relax in without worry of cross contamination. and i agree with the others saying beware of the gluten free products being tasteless and not palatable.

  • Kris

not only gluten free, but also dairy free and corn free and possibly nut free – would allow many more people to eat your sandwiches, including me !
    Great idea !

  • Shannon

Thank you for considering doing this. I believe you’ll find that there are more people out there with either celiac disease or gluten intolerance than you think.

  • dkesterson

My wife and I would greatly appreciate it if you added gluten free sandwiches to your menu. I love your food, but it is hard to find a restaurant we can both enjoy with her celiac restrictions. I think there are many more people who have this disease than many restaurant operators realize, and it would be mutually beneficial if you modified your menu to allow inclusion of this oft overlooked group. Thanks for listening.

  • Miko

I loved getting the BLT before I found out I have celiac disease. I also can’t have dairy, so now I have to get the salad bar. The salad bar is nice, but I would like to have a little variety besides a plain baked potato or the chicken tortilla soup. 50% of people with a gluten intolerance also can’t have dairy, so PLEASE make it dairy free too!

  • Barb

I might also add that other ingredients like the lunchmeats and so forth be offered as gluten free as well.

I am happy that Jason’s Deli is considering this seriously.

  • Kay

A gluten free bread option would be fantastic! I have 2 children with allergies other than gluten (egg & dairy). Would you also consider GF bread options w/o these ingrediants?

  • Melissa

My daughter and I have Celiac and would be so excited to have another option to eat out. We have been hoping that there were be a place that would make gluten free sandwiches!! I would be a regular customer for sure!!!

  • Jennifer Mooney

Been Diagnosed with Celiac for over two years, and I am so happy to see “they” are at least trying to help our allergy needs. My 25 year old daughter is also diagnosed, and it will make it easier for her to live a more “normal” life. Thanks.

  • Theresa

I have celiac disease. I love the potatoes and salad bar at Jason’s. I would like to be able to order soup that I feel is safe. It seems like it would be hard to order a sandwich that would not get greatly contaminated by all the crumbs around. It would be great if it could be done :)

    Theresa

  • KenN

I too have celiac disease and would love to have another option other than salads with you. Miss your great sandwiches

  • Denise

I have celiac and would be so glad to have a gluten free sandwich option an Jason’s! I already eat other things there and would really appreciate the effort to make a GF sandwich that would be safe for us!

  • Amee

    Diagnosed Celiac Sept 2008

I think it would be great to offer GF items as well as dairy/nut/soy/egg free.

HOWEVER***** if Jason’s is going to provide this- they should take this SERIOUSLY, training the managers and ALL STAFF about cross contamination.

So many places “offer” GF items, but the staff has no clue what it means or how they can make someone sick. Staff has no idea what ingredients are in each product, changing gloves, prep areas, etc. When that happens, I walk out.

So yes to the new items, but ONLY if the company adheres to strick guidelines and holds the employees accountable. Food allergies can KILL people, and it is THAT SERIOUS.

  • Heather

It would be great to have another gluten free option to feed my husband. Please consider that many gluten intolerent people are also allergic to Casin, a protein in milk and dairy that doesn’t break down when cooked. So a bread baked without dairy and a vegan cheese option would put your greatness over the top.

  • Sue

I have celiac disease and contamination is a major concern with preparing food in my own home as my family eats gluten. Preparing a GF sandwich in a ‘deli restaurant’ environment sounds very risky!!! It is great to see a restaurant challenging itself to do this…keep us posted as to your progress. I have never eaten at Jason’s Deli, but would love to check it out if I know my food would be safe. Thanks!

  • JSA

I would love to be able to eat at Jason’s Deli! Please consider these few things… cross contamination is a very big issue for people with either celiac or gluten intolerance. Even just the smallest crumb/particle can cause weeks of pain and symptoms. Also, most people who are unable to consume gluten are also unable to consume other foods. Please consider leaving out all of the top eight allergens, at the very least.
Thank you! I look forward to eating at Jason’s Deli!

  • Melanie

If Jason’s can offer gluten-free (that tastes good) and can guarantee they’ve handled the cross ontamination issue, then count us in! The CD group here takes this very seriously, so if they can convince us that they’ve resolved ALL the issues, we’ll give it a try!

  • mary lasalla

Yes, I have celiac, and yes, I would eat at Jason’s regularly if sandwiches were offered. Currently, my retired teacher friends eat at Raleigh Jason’s every Tues. at 11:30. I would like to begin joining them. Cross-contamination concerns are still on my mind AND I would prefer as few calories as possible w/o sacrificing taste. My 3 sons have celiac, also. I can foresee my family eating at Jason’s regularly if all works out. One more thing, I truly don’t want to pay way more than my friends pay for a sandwich just ’cause I’m special! Many thanks.

  • William

Gluten free sandwiches would be a great addition to the menu. I have celiac disease and I miss being able to go to grab a quick sandwitch. I would frequent Jason’s Deli even more if they offered gluten free sandwitches.

  • Lara Cox

This is not just great, it is SO important for my little 5 year old to grow up with healthful options. If a restaurant like yours becomes GF, then we are not stuck with expensive restaurants as our only option…Celiac disease, which she has, is a lifelong situation, not a choice! You would have a customer for life…as a 5 year old grows, it will be truly wonderful if she knows of a great place she can go to with friends and then, hopefully, during work engagements.
Please do include such items. There is a type of GF bread that is vacuum sealed and not frozen. This would be a great choice for a restaurant and the bread tastes great instead of freezer burned!!!
I have seen plenty of comments already about the concerns with cross contaminations so I won’t rehash.
Thanks for your queries of the public!!!

  • Cory

Yes, please! Understand that every time someone with Celic’s Disease goes out to eat with others, they end up owning the decision as to where to eat so this impacts far more than just those with CD.

  • Pamela

Hello. I am gluten free, and would LOVE the opportunity to have another meal option when out and about. Currently I find myself wandering into subway to get a sandwich w/o bread, which really is a bunch of meat and cheese slices, or going to five guys and getting a burger without a bun…

How awesome would it be to walk into a place where your friends could get a meal, and you could to, without having to hold half of it b/c it would make you sick!

That being said, I’d need the reassurance that the bread was kept separate, and that the staff knew of cross-contaminiation. It would be a bummer to do all that work and still get some people sick!

And b/c it has come up with other restaurants, if the cost of the bread is significant to Jason’s deli, i wouldn’t scoff at having to pay additional cash for the gluten free bread, especially if it was tasty, and came with the knowledge of all measures being taken to prevent cross contamination.

    Thanks!

  • John

    Yes! and Definitely!

  • http://facebook Cassondra

I do hope you become a Celiac Choice of resteraunt It is really sad to have the choices limited to what will and will not make me sick before I was told Iam sorry you have Celiacs disease I would eat at Jason’s Deli in Lewisville or the Frisco location and now ?Please PLEASE GO GLUTEN FREE PLEASE…..

  • Wanda

I would love, love it!!!! But like other celiacs, I am concerned by the cross contamination. Employees would need to have full understanding that people will get sick if they are not careful when they prepare foods. They would need to change their gloves, use prep spaces that were not previously used with gluten items and not to share utensils with gluten items. I say go for it!!!

  • Christy Petty

Yes please please-We have 3 generation that eat gluten free!
Jasons has been most accomodating to make rubens with no bread, not give croutons etc! But to have GF bread would be fabulous.
Truly the ‘cross contamination’ should not be an issue, cross contamination is happening all the time now, so if one has no issues going in Jasons and having a salad, and getting dressing next to those lusious smelling muffins, they will not have issues anyway.
    It would be awesome.
AND if you wanted some added income sell the GF bread! At this time I prepare bread for friends locally and would LOVE the competition!!

  • jeanne

Very tough on teenagers and family. Please check it out.Hope you can implement.

  • Cynthia Young, MD

Our family is gluten-free, and I would love to have another option for dining out safely. As a physician, I must agree with previous posters who raise the issue of cross-contamination. There is NO “safe” amount of gluten that a person with celiac disease can consume – the only treatment at this time is total avoidance of gluten. If Jason’s will make the committment to staff training and education, so that gluten-free food preparation can be done in a safe manner, then you will earn the loyalty and business of a largely neglected market segment.

  • Clair

I share many of the concerns of earlier posts about cross contamination, but if you can solve that issue and offer truly gluten free bread, I will be there with my celiac diseased innards.

  • http://www.gfreeandhealthy.wordpress.com Jamie

Please start having gluten free options in both your soups and sandwiches, but please make sure you take the propper precautions with cross contamination. It would be a great thing for a restaurant like yours to offer options for people with problems to gluten.

  • Bob Schrock

To have a deli where I could get a sandwich would be a wonderful thing. My only hope now is to go to Subway and get a sub without bread. Go for it! Get some gluten-free bread and see how many of us there really are in your neighborhoods!

  • Angie B

Jason….if you’re reading this. Please please, for the love of humankind have a gluten free menu!!! This will make millions happy and make you rick ;)

  • kathy

It is hard to find a resturant that i can go to with others who are not gluten intolerent. Many places are no longer an option for me and my group of friends because there are no options for me. Therefore not only do these places lose my business but the people i go out to eat with also. Really how many people go out to eat by themselves. Thanks for you interest in this.

  • Lynn

I go to Jason’s about once a month. But,many times when my friends go out to eat I will only get a drink b/c I am so afraid of cross contamination. I have cd and if I get any wheat/gluten in my system, I can be out of commission for up to a week with stomach cramps. So you can see, cross contamination is a BIG issue for me. Thank you for considering adding the GF options. Please take strides to insure that it is safe for us to eat!

  • Randy Brogoitti

Acute gluten alergy is a real problem in family. We search dining choices to be certain to avoid it and are loyal to thosethat take care tonot cross-contaminate.

  • Anthony Gibson

That would be great if you offered GF bread since I very rarely come across a restaurant I can order GF sandwiches at. But I stress, make sure cross contamination issues are addressed and taken seriously. Gluten intolerance is not to be taken lightly.

  • Beverly Berg

The need for Gluten Free food is growing everyday, especially with the kids. Please carry a large variety of items, so whole families can enjoy eating out. Just don’t put the croutons on the salad bar and have a separate place to make gluten free sandwiches. Instantly, the families will start lining up. The best brand in Arizona is Gluten Free Creations. Their bread and pizza crusts are the best and their ready made pizzas are great. Thanks for supporting this need, especially for families with kids with special needs who are usually on a GF diet.

  • Hilde Tipton

I would be SO HAPPY if you had a gluten free sandwich choice. I have a hard time eating out b/c of my gluten allergy and a sandwich shop is on my never list. I loved your sandwiches back when I could eat them and I’d love to be able to eat them again.

BTW, thanks for all your environmental and health decisions. You are definitely the leader in these areas and hopefully will inspire other restaurants to make healthy choices. Good for you!!

    Best regards, Hilde Tipton

  • Gina Kuzniarek

For those who don’t eat Gluten Free, you really don’t have any idea what it is like to try and find a safe place to eat whenever you want to go out for lunch/dinner. I have Celiac Disease and my friends always go out with me to places that accomadate my diet. I could only hope Jason’s Deli will consider taking the BIG leap and offering a variety for those of us less fortunate to have to live, eat and follow this diet forever. Thank you.

  • Tiara

Yes, I would eat there regularly if you offered a gluten free bread that actually tastes good! I’ve heard good things about Udi’s bread… A bread that contains dairy and a dairy free option would be ideal, since many Celiac’s and those who are GF to help with Autism need to be casein free as well.

I eat salads from you guys on occasion that have always been carefully prepared to avoid cross contamination. So, I would suggest having an area of the kitchen and separate containers for condiments and toppings that are used only for gluten free sandwiches. PF Changs obviously does well with the GF menu, especially now that they’ve expanded it. Mellow Mushroom is rolling out a GF crust in test markets and I hope will do well enough to stock it full time, and with all the traveling we do it would be heaven to grab a sandwich somewhere! Of course, you’d have to require special training for your staff, and I’d suggest you use different colored plates or paper to visually distinguish a gluten free entree/sandwich.

Durham NC is in the test market for Mellow Mushroom’s GF crust, the Raleigh/Durham area would be a great test market for you guys too!

Thank you so much for considering this!

  • June Bedford

I tried to vote, but couldn’t find a button! So, I would like to comment. I have many friends and colleagues with this allergy, so I think the more places and choices they have, the better! This is a difficult allergy to deal with. Kudoes to Jason’s Deli!
    YES and DEFINITELY!!

  • Jo Little

I am so thankful for such insight into our health and welfare. Please make a gluten free sandwich for people with allergies.

    Thank you,
    Jo Little

  • Dawn

Thank you Jason’s for considering having gluten free breads. It has been hard at times to get the salad bar and watch my husband eat wraps! I wonder if you all could find a wrap that is gluten free and soft…another thing I was wondering is if you could place the non gluten free items on the salad bar like pasta salad ect…away from the gluten free ones. The other night, pasta fell into the gluten free containers.
We love Jason’s and eat there often. Sometimes I have no symptoms and sometimes I do!

  • Maike

I have a niece and three friends with Celiac. I think this is a GREAT idea.

    Thanks for considering it!

  • Rachel Bastarache

Please! Finding good deli sandwiches are hard enough. Finding gluten-free options are even harder. I’d definitely become a customer if you started selling gf sandwiches!

  • http://gfpumpkins.wordpress.com Alissa

I would love the option to eat out sandwiches again. I grew up in NY with a New York deli right behind my house. I so miss being able to go into a deli and order a sandwich! But, being gluten intolerant, my biggest fear would be cross contamination. Each location would need to be very well educated to the fact that cross contamination can do major damage to someone who can’t eat gluten. All it takes is me getting ill once from eating somewhere for me to never go back there again. And to tell my friends about it. But if done right, you’d have some new very loyal customers.

  • ashley

This would be fantastic. There are so many limitations on a Celiac for eating out and when we do its definitely not quickly. Perfect lunch option for me and my husband who still likes to eat bread every now and then – even though he realizes that it difficult for everyone to process, not just ppl with Celiac or intolerances. I know a massive community in Nashville that would jump on it.
As said numerous times… cross contamination is a concern. Not to mention all the goodies. I say do it!!! It may cost but we will come!!

  • http://www.becominggreenblog.com Stephanie

I have celiac disease and so does my mom. The options for fast food are very limited, and I have a two year old so we pretty much never go out to eat. There is a Jason’s deli on the way home from my husband’s work. If you could ensure way to prevent cross contamination I can guarantee we would eat there probably a couple of times a week. It was be so convenient and such a life saver for us. If you are looking for a bread, try Udi’s gluten free, it’s the best!

  • Erich

I was always a fan of Jason’s Deli. The stores always went out of the way to help their customers and I know many customers that went out of their way to go to Jason’s Deli for it.

Since my celiac diagnosis I have not gone often, salads do get very boring after a while when you really want a sandwich!

I think this would be a great idea, but be sure to be careful about cross contamination. Training (and testing of that training!) is a must. Having mostly open main space is good so customers can see what you’re doing. Look into PF Changs, they use special plates for all their gluten free foods, and if anyone in the kitchen sees the plate, they know how to handle it.

Also things like salad / soup bars can be a land mine for Celiacs, someone drops a crouton in the cheese or uses a different ladle in a soup, it can be game over.

Best of luck, and announce to some of the Celiac websites / blogs when you start doing some testing. Lots of celiacs don’t even go into a place titled “deli” unless they’ve heard in advance, then they’ll make a special trip!

  • Catherine

I have a Jason’s across the street from me. It would be a great location to meet with friends, and/or business associates if there were GF selections available. It is not my place of choice to meet when there is so little there I can eat. Along with GF bread, consider GF pastas as well. It would be great to pop in and pick up dinner once a week since your store is so very close.

  • http://www.SarahiMoore.com Sarah Moore

Wow, I am already love your organic choices now, gluten free. Very excited and hopeful. can wait to send clients your way!

  • Andrea

DO IT! JUST DO IT!!! PEOPLE THAT ARE MAKING A HEALTH CONSCIENCE DECISION SHOULD HAVE MORE OPTIONS! THANK YOU JASON’S DELI, FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION OF OFFERING GLUTEN-FREE!

  • http://www.airgundepot.com scott

    PLEAAAASSSSSEEE let this happen.

I miss having a good sandwich . Bring on the Gluten Free Sandwiches.

The thing about offering something like this is that it would attract more business because whenever eating out my friends have to go to place that I can get something to eat so it brings in the non gluten free customers as well.

It would be great to be able to eat a sandwich in a restaurant again! As many have mentioned, cross-contamination is a concern, but it can be dealt with. I say go for it!!!

  • Diana Moore

With so many children being diagnosed with autism, gluten-free products are in high demand.

Many parents have seen big improvements in their child’s behavior by eliminating gluten from their diets.

Unfortunately, that limits the options of places to go out to eat. Jason’s, a place known for healthy, fresh, and organic food options, seems like a natural restaurant to offer some gluten-free options. Go for it!!

  • jgulley

My 14 year old GF son would be very excited and we would be able to eat at Jason’s Deli again!
Please offer it in all locations!!

  • Elaine White

My daughter-in-law recently found out that she has celiac disease. She can eat at Outback and chil’s. It would wonderful to have more choices. It seems that there are an increasing number being diagnosed with celiac and other conditions that require a gluten-free diet. Thanks for making life more enjoyable for these people and the ones who enjoy eating out with them.

  • Leila

What a wonderful thing to consider for your customers. We LOVE Jason’s. Our closest location is about an hour away but whenever we are there, we always eat at Jason’s. We do the salad bar which is fantastic but the ability to have a sandwich – AWESOME Even if you decide this is not something you are going to pursue, I feel you are to be commended for even considering the issue. Thanks.

Please consider making gluten free sandwiches available to the GF community. Presently, there are very few lunch options available for us. It would be wonderful to be able to go to a deli and have a gluten free sandwhich at lunch! Also, please be sure to properly train your staff on safe preparation and cross-contamination concerns!! Thank you!

  • Paula

My sister has Celiac. I was on a gluten-free diet for several years pending clear diagnosis. Finding tasty foods when restricted by the gluten-free diet is difficult. With a high incidence of gluten intolerance nation-wide, anything restaurants and delis can do to reach this growing population would be wonderful.

  • Robin

    Yes, yes, please yes!

  • Matt

It would be a wise business move to include gluten free bread on your menu. There are simply not many choices when looking for a gluten free sandwich (I know; I am an ‘anti-glutite’). Anyone who could put that on their menu would definitely be gaining customers that would otherwise stay away. It would have to be a quality recipe though. I recommend somehow getting ahold of the recipe at Wildwood Cafe in Austin Texas. They have the BEST gluten free bread, in many varieties. Problem is that there is only 1 store so it’s not very convenient.

  • casey welch

i think that you ought to look into the gluten free breads for the people that have the allergy to gluten. my wife, sister in law, father in law, and a few close friends have been diagnosed with Celiacs.

my wife likes to eat pizza when she can and Godfathers has come up with a Gluten free dough so she can enjoy that. i think it would be really cool if Celiacs can sit down and be able to eat a sandwich and not worry about getting sick. maybe find a way to keep the cost pretty much the same for the bread that is gluten free as compared to the bread with gluten.

about 3wks ago my wife took me for the first time into the Jason’s Deli in Topeka Kansas and i liked what i seen. the salad bar looked great and the sandwich i had was very tasty. all she was able to really have was a potato and a salad, but she liked it anyways.

thanks for letting me voice my opinion…

  • TJ

If you would consider a gluten-free and dairy-free bread, for everyone like me who is allergic to milk and wheat as well as gluten-intolerant, I’d be your first customer! Many years have passed since I’ve eaten a deli sandwich. If you get the gluten- and dairy-free bread, I’d eat there often **barring any cross-contamination in your kitchen**!!!!!!! Thanks a million for considering this option on your menu!!!

  • Jackie

This would be great as long as staff is made aware of cross contamination problems. McAllisters Deli is very good about changing gloves when you mention GF. UDI’s bread is the BEST!!

  • April

I really enjoyed ordering a gluten-free sandwich from the test kitchen at Jason’s in Beaumont. The bread was tasty, but crumbly. I hope that the company will research Udi’s bread, which comes from Denver, I believe.

I have Celiac Disease, and the staff was happy to work with my suggestions to avoid cross contamination.

  • Miko

I just tried the gluten free bread at a Jason’s test kitchen yesterday and it was AMAZING. It didn’t taste like normal gluten free bread at all, it was like eating normal sliced whole wheat. I really hope they offer this at every Jason’s because I had to drive 30 minutes to the closest one with the gluten free bread.

  • Bridget

My husband is a Celiac and my 7 year-old, diabetic daughter is being biopsied to confirm Celiac. We would be forever grateful if more and more places started offering gluten-free options. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tamra

Would love GF as long as there was no cross contamination. Would also love to be able to eat the broccoli cheese potato again, if they would make it GF.

  • Rebecca

I love Jason’s Deli but only eat the potato when I’m there and look at everyone else’s sandwich with envy. I’d love Jason’s to have a GF bread option but the meats have to be GF as well. My local Jason’s haven’t verified any of the meats are safe to eat.

  • Mary Peterson

Choose with care – many GF breads are awful. You have such tasty breads for your ‘regular’ fare, do not skimp on the GF products.

And thanks for considering this. I haven’t had a decent sandwich in a loooong time! :)

  • Candice

For those of us with Celiac Disease cross-contamination would be my biggest concern. Offering gf bread is a wonderful idea for others.

  • Michelle J

    Please, please, please!
I miss your sandwiches so very much!

  • http://jasondeli.com M Shults

please start having gluten free breads. then we can go out for lunch!

  • Laurel

I think you should do it because I know many people who have this problem, though I and my family don’t.

  • Trixi

    . . . mmmhhhhhhhh a sandwich . . . . aahhhh what a beautiful thought

  • Carrie Fannin

Jason’s Deli used to be one of my favorite places to grab lunch. The food was always fresh and delicious. I do miss going there & would absolutely love seeing them offer gluten-free sandwiches. One of the great things about Jason’s is how many locations they have–it would expand my options when traveling tremendously!

  • Flo Smith

Thank you so much for even being interested enough to undertake the poll and considering addressing the needs of the gluten-free community.

As you know by now, there would be two big concerns if you begin offering GF bread: The first is getting a good-tasting bread, and the second is the huge possibility of cross contamination. It is hard to understand how vigilent the staff would have to be about avoiding any contact with any surface which had been used for gluten-containing foods, in order to maintain the safety of the gluten free options.

If Jason’s can pull this off, you will be the talk and hero of the gluten free community! You will have a huge jump on all competition, and you will have our undying gratitude!

    Thank you for caring!

  • Terry Dearman

our office eats at Jasons Deli quit often, I found out recently that I celiac disease,it is not easy to order except salad, fruit, & potatoes,my favorites are the sandwhichs.

  • Caryn Green

I could not get the vote to work. YES PLEASE..I have a child with a gluten allergy and very few options…we have a Jason’s 1/2 mile from my house and would be a HUGE supporter!
    Thank you!!

  • Kathie

Half of my family is following a gluten free diet for health reasons. This would be a fantastic new place to add to the few we currently go.

  • http://www.RealtyInTheSun.com Elaine Sherer

YES !!!!!!! I’d love to enjoy your fabulously delicious sandwiches again. Please do it :-)

  • JH

We never eat at Jason’s because my kids and I are gluten-free. If Jason’s Deli had GF bread (and could train their staff to avoid cross-contamination), then we would give it a try!

  • SFahy

Please bring GF sandwich options to your restaurants! I would love to be able to have a “sandwich-shop” lunch with my non-GF friends again!!

  • Debbie

Great idea. If you are not going to make your own GF bread, then please check out Udi’s Bread. The best GF bread I’ve eaten!!

  • Daniela (Dallas, TX)

    Please offer GF sandwiches!
I always loved eating at Jason’s but since our son has celiac I ate at Jasons a lot less often because there were no real menue choices for him.
If you start offering GF sandwiches and other GF menue choices we will be back – I promise

  • http://www.mycmsite.com/rmeyer Rebecca

Wow this is a fantastic idea. I have 2 teens on a gluten free diet due to Celiac, and its so hard to find delis to eat at. My kids would love it!

  • Kelley

GREAT idea, but please make sure you use a good-tasting gluten free bread. All of us who have to eat GF know that a good GF bread is hard to come by, but they are out there. Udi’s makes a very good one. Thank you for thinking of those who eat gluten free!

  • sharon findley

    Go for it!

  • Lori Lee

Oh, what a great idea! I so miss your sandwiches and would love to have this opportunity. Please be sure that you get it as good as possible, look at UDI’s brand, it’s fabulous! I haven’t been able to have a sandwich in a restaurant for so long, we would love you forever. I would be able to not have baked potatoes all of the time when I visit Jason’s weekly. Thank you!!!

  • Denise from Duluth GA

Yes, yes, yes! i used to love eating your sandwiches until myself and my 3 daughters were diagnosed with celiac, we also are dairy and soy intolerant, there are breads out there without all 3 of these ingredients so if you do decide to offer this option we hope you can use one of the ones that are dairy, soy and gluten free. We still frequent your deli we just can not eat the bread. Thanks for your consideration.

  • Sue H

My family LOVES Jason’s Deli and since two of the four of us are gluten-free, we take our own GF bread on which to have our sandwiches made. We would be most grateful for GF bread available at the restaurant so that we can stop taking our own! Also, Outside the Breadbox in Colorado Springs makes a delicious Brown Rice bread and Kaiser Rolls that we love!

  • Jordan

I love going to Jason’s Deli with friend and would like to get something other than a potato for once! Also, my younger sister who often goes to Jason’s Deli after school has a gluten intolerance and I know she would also enjoy getting something other than a potato.

  • Mary

If Disney can do it – Jason’s Deli can do it.
This would be a great benefit for us who deal with Celiac. Tapioca Rolls are wonderful.

  • Kerrie

Please, please, please begin carrying gluten free sandwich options! Jason’s Deli has long been a favorite restaurant of mine and since being diagnosed with gluten intolerance, I haven’t been able to enjoy your wonderful food! I am right near the Greenville, SC location near Haywood Mall and I would be in 7th Heaven if you introduced gluten free breads and such! Thank you for considering this!

  • Mary Jo

I would love to be able to eat sandwiches out again! It is really hard to make good gluten-free bread, so I can’t wait to see what you all come up with. Another good option for celiacs is wraps made with corn tortillas. Thank you for pursuing this wonderful idea!

  • Minnie

My daughter has Celiac Disease and finding places for her to eat is difficult. This would be fantastic. Cross-containation and taste of bread would be major concerns.

  • pam

i would love to be able to go out with family and friends. i used to go to subway at least 3 times a week. if you have gluten free bread, you’ve got my business.

  • Elisse

I would LOVE an option for eating out that’s quick and easy. It’s fairly easy to eat GF in establishments that serve warm meals, but very few “fast food” or sandwich options are available when I do not have time to sit down in a restaurant or want something light. PLEASE bring GF bread to your menu!

  • Marie Stephens

YES YES YES, I used to eat at Jason’s all the time until 5 years ago when I found out I couldn’t have gluten any more. Just make sure the Jason’s in Mississippi has the gluten free bread. There are not many places here to eat out or buy food.

  • Mindy

Thank you so much for considering this. It would definitely be a treat, but I also echo others in saying the meats and condiments would need to be gauranteed gluten free as well. And please receive the proper education, as others like PF Changs and Outback have done, to ensure there is no cross-contamination in the kitchen preps and handling of the gluten free items from non gluten free items.

  • Sandy

    Oh yes, especially in
Denver as Udi bread comes from there and that is where I go to Jason’s.

  • Marsha Greenstein

    That would be so wonderful

  • Lisa B

If you can resolve the cross-contamination issues generally and provide assurance on the contents of sandwiches as well as gf bread, it’s a huge winner!

  • Susan

    Yes, please!

  • Bob

I think it is a great idea. It not only gives those in need or a GF diet a place to go and eat freely but may alsobe imaginative and can be every bit as tasty as gluten full items.
May draw more customers since it is a variety not many cater to.
    Good job

  • Dianne Pritchett

My son has to eat gluten free and I would love for him to be able to go to Jason’s Deli with me (and his daughter). We eat there often.

  • http://glutenfreeontheshoreline.blogspot.com Sybil Naassau

All the great gf bread and rolls in the world won’t matter if there is any possibility for cross-contamination. So a separate prep area would have to be maintained using separate color-coded utensils, cutting board, even mayo and mustard containers. Best thing to do would be to go after the GFRAP designation and do the training. It would be worth it and more than make up for the customers that would flock to your doors. Go to http://www.gluten.net for further information, the Gluten Intolerance Group, NA, Cynthia Kupper Exec Director. You won’t be sorry and might see as much as a 15% increase in business. We are a small GIG branch in southern CT and have managed to convert 4 local restuaurants without difficulty.Several National chains have achieved the designation, so GO FOR IT! And think about coming to CT, PLEASE!

  • http://comcast.net Joan Terry

Please carry the gluten free bread. The celiac and gluten free community are growing by leaps and bounds because physicians are better trained to diagnose this problem, now. Thanks a lot!

  • R

I work in a department of 35. We often order food on staff meeting days. One member of the department has celiac. If Jason’s had gluten free bread, we would all eat there more often in order to include our coworker.

  • Kathy Rini

I have several friends who only eat gluten free. It would be wonderful if they could enjoy the fabulous sandwiches at Jason’s as much as I do.

  • Paula Hill

My mother-in-law and grandson are both on gluten free diets. It’s always difficult to try and eat out them. It would be great if we had an option.

  • Rudy I

I don’t know if there is a Jason’s Deli In Albuquerque, but if there is I would certainly try it out. I have been baking my own bread but am not very successful at it. The Gluten Free bread I find at the store is very small and very expensive.
Thanks for the information on this.

  • Jody

yes and definitely and please come to NOrthern New Jersey……

  • Amy

I would love to be able to eat a sandwich at jason’s deli again! I would definitely be a frequent customer if they started offering gluten free bread. I am gluten intolerant and did not find out until my sophomore year in college. I really wish that there were more mainstream quick service restaurants that offered gluten free options. (and not just salads) I am a runner and a college student so I still like to eat carbs :)

  • Dianne

I have enjoyed eating at Jason’s for some time, but I slways had to plan ahead so that I could bring my own bread. It could never be an impulse. Your sandwiches are excellent and I would be thrilled to have them available when traveling or when someone just says, “let’s go to Jason’s. You are a forward looking company. Thank you.

  • Lis

Udi’s bread is phenomenal and comes in a white bread and a wholegrain version. They also have bagels that make great sandwhiches. The best part is that both their bread and their bagels can be enjoyed without having to toast the products, but they still taste great toasted as well!

  • Richelle

I’m a celiac, and once I find a restaurant that can accomodate me, I am a loyal customer!

  • Snow White

If you decide to offer gluten-free sandwiches – and please, please do! – consider using Udi’s bread. It is the only GF bread option I’ve tasted that tastes like wheat breads. If you’re going to do it, do it right!

  • http://aol Lorraine D

This would be a great addition to my list of gf items to eat. We do not have you in Canada but I would add this to my list for travelling and being able to pick up your sandwiches. Great idea.
    Lorraine

  • ANN MAUREEN SURRA

I had a gluten-free Ruben sandwich on a gluten-free flatbread last week in Pennsylvania.
I would love Jason’s Deli to offer same in SDan Antonio.

  • Loyola

My husband and I have cut way back on travel since I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. We would go out of our way to find your restaurants if you offered GF options. PLEASE!

  • Anne

Sandwiches with gluten free bread would be great! My daughter and I are GF, and there are very few casual, kid-friendly places we can go. If you want to keep people coming back again and again, you need to offer more than just a GF main course so people can eat a full meal. You need GF sides and desserts, too. There are many GF organic options prepackaged as a single serving. As you have gathered from comments by others, in order to avoid cross-contamination, you would essentially need a separate prep line to keep sandwiches GF. In addition, all the ingredients would need to be GF too, since gluten can be a hidden ingredient in deli meat and condiments. Thanks for considering this move!

  • Allie

My school is right by a Jason’s deli. Having a gluten free sandwich selection would give me so much more selection for after school lunches. Please please add Gluten Free sandwiches to the Jason’s deli menu!

  • Pat

That would be wonderful. I only have a few places that I eat out at.

  • Jennifer

This would be awesome! My son is allergic to wheat and dairy. We have such a hard time when traveling to find something for him to eat. Burger King hamburger patties (no bun) and fries get old real fast. Having a healthier option would be wonderful!

  • Pam

I would love to be able to take my 10 year old who is GF someplace with his friends where he can eat “normally.”

  • Sue

Mindy speaks my mind — cross contact is a big concern. If I perceive a busy prep area & a lot of turnover with kitchen staff & wait staff, I’m not confident that my order will be gluten free.

  • Sue

Thank you for considering this option. At Jimmy John’s, I can get an “Unwich” which is a sandwich wrapped in a Lettuce Leaf. The sandwich is good, but the meat is not gluten-free. This could be an option. Non-Celiacs may enjoy this as a healthier option to a bread sandwich.

  • pat poston

yes most definitely for GF bread. would love the opportunity to go to Jason’s

  • Rita Grasshoff

That would be wonderful! All I presently am able to order are salads and potatoes. I’d love to have gluten free sandwiches!!

  • Debbie

Six months ago my retail store ordered from Jason’s Deli in Greensboro, NC. I had to go over my order many times with the girl taking the order to make sure my food was not cross contaminated with gluten and my food was gluten free.

The condition of my food was terrible. I would be very interested in gluten free bread and menu items but hope that the staff would be trained on preparing our foods in a separate area to prevent contamination.

    Thanks.

  • http://www.jasonsdeli.com Mareah Flynn

If possible please offer more than one type of gluten-free bread. For example one simple recipe and one with flavor like cheese gluten-free bread or with seasonings. This will mix and match with different types of sandwiches. Also please clearly identify on the menu whick items are gluten-free or can be made gluten-free. Thanks, I am looking forward to having a sandwich at Jason’s Deli!!

  • Annette Stull

I love Jason’s Deli and my husband and I eat there quite often. I am only able to safely get the salad bar, which I love but it would be wonderful to have a sandwich too. Thank you so much.

  • Kim Giordano

Yes! There is no other place that we can get a fast meal. Boston Market is the closest thing to fast and good food. The fast food restaurants Taco Bell, Wendy’s etc identify which products are gluten free but their quality control is so poor that I don’t try to eat there (cross contamination.) It’s not worth the risk especially if I’m travelling. Gluten free dressings , mayo. mustard. O&V etc would be great too.

  • Barbara Harmel

How exciting!! When will you be opening a location in the Buffalo, NY area so that I can try your gluten-free sandwiches?

  • http://glutenfreegreenie.blogspot.com/ Wendy Holcombe

Often my friends are going to Jason’s Deli and I’ve joined them a few times, but I’m always afraid of cross contamination no matter what I get. But if you are actually offering GF bread I will feel like you understand the needs of a gluten free dieter and will feel like I can join my friends! How wonderful would that be?

    Thank you!

  • http://AOL SUE HOLT

I THINK THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL,THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

  • P. Boo

My husband and I can walk to our Jasons. I usually eat a salad because of my wheat intolerance. We seem to go at least 1 -2 times a week. I usually check once a month to see if there have been any new developments in offering GF bread so I can enjoy a great sandwich. This would be wonderful if you started to offer this option. Yeah!

  • Jackie F

I am gluten intolerant and have other issues with food as well, but this would be a great thing to have available in my area. It’s gets so tiring when your family or friends want to go for a sandwhich and all you can do is watch them eat.

  • Kevin Holliday

Check out the bread from the Sensitive Baker in Culver City, CA. The focaccia would be perfect for sandwiches.

  • Bryan

Thanks just for considering this as an option. As a previous post said, adding gluten free pasta would be simple and most of my friends never know the difference.
I hope when you consider your options for the bread you will take all these suggestions seriously because we are the taste testers out there and there are many bad examples to be had!

  • Ginger

Yumm!!! I used to love Jason’s sandwiches before I found out I am allergic to gluten. It would be one of the only places I could eat for lunch!!

  • Teresa

When I choose where I am going out to eat there are three things that are factored into my decision. First of all, where am I at or going to be at when meal time occurs; second, how much money do I have to spend; third, is there food on the menu for my daughter who needs a gluten free meal. I can not go to that spagetti resturaunt or that chicken place because there is nothing there for my daughter. I love Jasons Deli and having a gluten free option would open the establishment up to me for family meals. The competeting sandwich style establishments have not even been a blip on the radar due to not being gluten friendly. Thank you for even considering it.

  • Diane

I was a regular Jason’s Deli diner for many years, until I was diagnosed with Celiac. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to eat there again, BUT I would have to be assured that cross-contamination would not be an issue – as I’m sure is the case with other Celiacs.

Take care of the cross-contamination issue and, yes, I will be there!

  • Susan K

I would love to have another “fast food” option besides Chik-Fil-A. I love Chik-Fil-A, but I get tired of salads, and the fries are just a WEE bit fattening.

What a delight it would be to go out for lunch (especially when I’m traveling) and order a sandwich!

Please, we would love to try your gluten-free sandwiches!

  • http://booksonthehouse.com Melissa

YES! My 13 year old is thrilled at the prospect. He misses having a regular old sandwich. We love Jason’s and can’t go because of the temptation for him. Please, please, please!

  • http://booksonthehouse.com Melissa

When will this decision be made?

  • Rose

I have severe Celiac’s and don’t hardly eat out at all do to cross contamination. I would love to be able to have a sandwich out. The taste would have to be good as well, sometimes that gluten free stuff, especially bread, is nasty.

  • Carol

My husband and I have always enjoyed your deli. Since being diagnosed I have relied on just eating your meats as in a low carb diet. I would greatly enjoy them on a nice gluten free roll. This would make a large number of celiac people very HAPPY!

  • Amber

Our 9-year-old was diagnosed with Celiac last year and although gluten-free options are growing, finding a place to eat out is ALWAYS a challenge.

We want her to feel good about eating and being able to eat “normally” is so important. Please add safe gluten free items to your menu so our family can go out the way we used to.

Resturants that have stepped up to offer safe food for celiacs have gained very loyal customers with our family and so many others out there with this need!

  • http://whereawomanshakeshertablecloth.blogspot.com Amy

Oh, please please please offer gluten-free bread! There aren’t any sandwich options for people like me with celiac here in Fayetteville, Arkansas. None! Being able to eat something besides a salad at our Jason’s Deli would be so wonderful. I’d probably eat there five days a week if you had gluten-free bread! Please do it! Please please!! And I know so many others with gluten issues who would too!

  • Camron

I ate a Jason’s twice already this week. I would LOVE to be able to get something other than the salad bar!!! Thanks for even considering this option.

  • Kelly

Yes, please offer gluten free sandwiches. My husband and I haven’t been to your restaurant since I was diagnosed three months ago. You are just down the street from us in Palatine, IL, and we have a gift card that we are unable to use. Would love to come back if you can offer some gluten free options. Thanks!

  • Devin Teague

I really appreciate the Jason’s deli is looking into options for those of us with celiac disease. I would love to have the bread available, but like others have mentioned, to effectively help those with true celiac versus those who just eat “gluten-free” by choice – education of the staff on cross-contamination would be absolutely necessary. If I went and the staff was grabbing my gluten-free bread with the same gloves that they were just grabbing the regular bread with, or putting my gluten-free bread down on the counter right where the other bread goes, then that really would not offer us celiac people anything we could take advantage of. It would be a challenge for Jason’s Deli – but one I hope they will consider as people with celiac disease tend to be extremely loyal and regular buyers at restaurants that honor our needs.

  • Courtney

this would be great! I do not know of one place in the Kansas City area to find a sandwich on GF bread – my whole family would love it and would become regulars. Agree with other posters – Udi’s is the way to go when you are looking at bread.

  • Jennifer

PLEASE make this happen! My daughter has celiac disease and is 9 years old. I am very aware of what I feed her and it would be so nice to be able to grab a quick and HEALTHY bite out without fear. There are always options of a salad, but did I mention she is 9! How great would it be to have a sandwich or a wrap like everyone else??!! THANK YOU!!!

  • Lynn H

This would be absolutely wonderful! I’m new to this and to have a real sandwich again would be simply heaven. Yes, we would definitely go to Jason’s Deli!

  • Kate Bailey

Great idea! When you are choosing/developing your gf bread I suggest you avoid the allergens corn soy milk.

Many people who have Celiac also become allergic to soy (and to a lesser degree other legumes, milk protein and become lactose intolerant.

I’ve read that about 20% of US pop. are allergic to soy.

  • Camille Pridgen

    1. When I tried to vote, the response said I had already voted. But I had not. The response is – yes, I have gluten allergy. And I may buy bread depending on what other ingredients it has. I would definately love to be able to get a sandwich when I’m out running errands and need to stop for lunch. That would just be pure heaven.

  • Jennie

This would be wonderful! Restaurants that offer Gluten-Free choices are so limited. I am so ready to have more choices when I want to go out for a meal!

  • Rachel Fermani

Great Idea!!! Consider using UDI’S bread! The Best! It is also dairy free which is a concern for many gluten free / Celiac individuals~

  • http://jasonsdeli.com Muriel

My granddaughter and I have celiac. How wonderful that you are even considering offering a g.f.sandwich. That is awesome.

  • Karen Tipton

I have often ordered Jason’s Deli sandwich trays for kids’ birthday parties and church meetings as a fresh alternative to pizza. All I could do was look longingly at the tempting sandwiches.

Offering GF sandwiches would give Jason’s an edge, because everyone at the event could be accomodated.

  • Donelle

I agree with many others. I am hyper-sensitive to gluten and have become ill with cross contamination as mild as someone twirling a pizza in the prep area when my food was prepared, so I have to ask that the prep area is well cleaned / segregated. I would love to have an option when my office yet again orders food from Jason’s Deli.

  • patty smollen

I don’t know where this resturant is but i would absolutly eat here. I am gluten intolerant and have many friends who are, and have to go so far to get things that are gluten free.

  • Joanne

This sounds great. You also need to provide education to the people who serve this also.
Gluten free bread is great, but contamination is a factor. Udi’s bread is by far the best that I have tried.

  • Lynn Anderson

Like another person who gave comments.. I could not vote and this was the next best way.

    YES
    DEFINITELY

And like so many others with celiac disease agree you need to address the cross contamination problem. I would love the option for a sandwich with good bread. There are lots of cardboard type bread! The bread needs to be soft and flavorful! and can be done. I would like to also thank you for considering the GF option. Starbucks offered A muffin and has now stopped due to lack of people participation. I feel they did not promote it properly and some people will not eat things labeled GF for fear it will taste bad. Actually there are lots of things GF that taste wonderful!

    Thanks again

  • Roberta

You need to build a Jason’s Deli near Harrisburg or Mechanicsburg PA and offer GF food. I am on the Medical Advisory Board of the Harrisburg Gluten Intolerance Group and am a registered dietitian who has celiac disease herself. If you decide to bake your own bread you must use Jules Gluten Free (www.julesglutenfree) flour. It makes the BEST tasting bread you have ever had!!!

  • Rita

I am gluten-intolerant and the one thing I miss the most is having a good sandwich. I would definitely become a regular customer if they offered gluten-free sandwiches! PLEASE make it happen. There are more of us out there than you might think!

  • Nirav

This would be great!!! I would most definitely eat there if offered GF bread.

  • http://triumphdining Marie

I would try it out, but I would want to know how Jason’s will handle the issue of cross contamination and making sure all employees are trained accordingly. I agree with Udi’s being the best gluten free bread available.

  • Dot Stephens

After having a heart attack after surgery by being given too much blood to fast, I have been told not to eat ovr 2,000 mg. of salt a day. Turned our lives up-side-down. We look for low or ‘no’ salt. Love the salad bar and always look for a sweet dressing as there is less salt. If you have ‘low or no salt’ items and could label them as such I think you would be surprised how many would use them. Anyone who is on BP medication is interested, and there are a lot of us out here.

  • http://www.laughingatchaos.com Jen

Sometimes you just want a sandwich. Please, my son and I would love more options when we’re out and about.

  • Marianne

Thank you for this forum. It’s not often that Celiacs are asked for an opinion. I think is a fantastic idea. Consider using Udi’s bread if you can. You must take the cross contamination issue very seriously.

  • J Kelly

There aren’t many places where someone can get a good GF sandwich. I’d give anything for a good, GF, Italian sub! (I hope your lunch meats are GF, or having the bread will defeat the purpose.)

  • Debbie

yes, we would order gluten free bread, if it also is milk-free and egg-free due to our son also having those allergies in addition to being gluten intolerant.

  • http://aol Pfuller

I would appreciate having a sandwich place to eat
and I use to eat at Jason’s Deli until I was
diagnosis with Celiac Disease. Please start the
    sandwiches for allergy restrictions.

  • Karissa

Hope this def. comes about!!!! The more people that start, the more people will follow, and before you know it, we’ll be eating GF stuff everywhere!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!

  • Janet

I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! But as many have mentioned–cross contamination of the breads is a huge concern for individuals with celiac disease. You would definitely have to have a separate station just for us. But I think it is wonderful that you are researching the idea. Thank you.

  • Ashley

You will have such a loyal following if you add gluten-free bread. People with celiac have so few options for eating out, and not much that’s easy to grab and go. When they find somewhere they can eat-they are LOYAL. It would be a great decision on your part. We also love Pamela’s Gluten free bread mix. It’s so tasty.

  • http://drglutenfree.com Dr Steely

Offering gluten-free sandwiches at Jason’s Deli would fill a serious void in lunch-time menu options for those with celiac disease. Thank you for even considering this and I hope you move forward with such items on your menu!!

  • Janine Roberts

YES!!! I so crave a sandwich!! My family loves to go to Jason’s Deli and I have so wished they had gluten free bread so that I could too. My vote is a definite YES!

  • Jennifer

The only suggestion in doing this would be for a separate prep area for gluten free items only, to avoid cross contamination. The bread is not the only thing that has gluten. You have to check other toppings too, especially sauces made with vinegar that is distilled with wheat instead of rice, which isn’t always on the label and you have to call the manufacturer. Even spices can have trace amounts of gluten. So for it to be completely safe for those with true allergy/intolerance, staff have to know and understand sources of cross-contamination. WOuld be fantastic if you can make it happen!!

  • Heather

It would be wonderful if you would start offering these sandwiches! Someone has already stated this, but cross-contamination is a major issue for those with celiac disease. If you move forward with this decision, please make sure we can enjoy your sandwiches without worrying whether they are safe. Thanks!

  • Mark

As many have mentioned cross-contamination would be a major concern in such a high volume place, but having a gluten free option would be great! My daughter has celiac and we are always looking for places we can eat at as a family.

  • Abrha

I love this idea. Give people healthy options for eating well in your restaurant. You will start a trend in the food business that extends far beyond your deli. We can all feel better knowing that we arent forced to consume gluten in everything we eat.
    Thank you

  • Bonnie Middleton

I would *love* a sandwich shop where I can get a gluten-free sandwich! What a treat that would be!

  • colleen

Americans are becoming more and more intolerant to gluten because it’s in everything! Though Bread isn’t the culprit (it’s mostly processed foods that contain so much gluten) the gluten over dose has made our good friend bread look bad! Let’s give him a chance to be friendly with EVERYONE again! Yay, for everyone!

  • colleen

Oh yeah! I forgot. If you do GF don’t forget to make EVERYTHING GF. It could be in the meat!! It could be in the sauces! Bread is only one part. Thanks!

  • Denise

Yes! Gluten free sandwiches at Jasons I’m looking forward to returning to Jasons, as I use to be a regular.Udis bread is by far the best choice out there it stores well, doesn’t fall apart, those with diary problems can eat it also. My vote is Yes Yes Yes!

  • Janet Davis

Words can not express the gratitude I have for this opportunity to provide my 12 yr. old daughter with another dining options. I live your deli’s but only eat there without her.
    Thanks you for considering this.

  • daniel shanks

your attention to this problem is very commendable, and appreciated… Daniel

  • Brandy

Gluten-free would be wonderful. I love Jason’s Deli and would like the gluten-free option for myself and my family.

  • V. Krell

Yes – my 8 yr old daughter would love to eat a sandwich from a restruant instead of always eating mine. How great would that be!!!!!!

  • Jennifer

Gluten free bread would be fantastic. As a celiac I would request that you fully understand the importance of the cross-contamination issue. If you make the effort to have GF bread, then please prepare and bake it safely away from the other bread ingredients. Also make the effort to ensure that the deli meats you use are also gluten free. GF bread isn’t helpful if the meat on the bread has gluten fillers. Thank you for looking into this. More options for eating out would be fantastic!

  • Jerry

A very close friend has Celiac’s disease. We frequently dine together frequently, and I tend to eat gluten free as a matter of habit. I have never dined at Jason’s but if you had a gluten free selection, I’m sure my friend and I would sign on immediately. Whatever your decision, thank you you for considering the idea.

  • Sherie

I am thrilled that Jason’s would consider doing this and would definitely find your locations wherever I go. I would also tell everyone I know that it is THE place to go as they are sensitive to people with food allergies. Along those lines, I would stress what many people have already stressed….that cross contamination has to be addressed as well. The other issue that has also been addressed is that many people have other food sensitivities (many because of celiac disease) and I am one, therefore, they need to have choices about things like dairy, eggs, mustard and many other items. Please consider making it possible to have alternative condiments as well. Not too hard to do, but imperative for many people. If you wish to discuss this with me, please contact me. I would love to discuss the issues at any time.

  • Allison

Please do introduce Gluten Free bread in the Greenville, SC store. For a celiac person, it is very difficult to stay on track with food selections and still maintain a normal life and eat out with friends and co-workers. There are very few restaurants that offer Gluten-Free menus. I know of other gluten-free people in Greenville, and I’m sure that they would visit Jason’s deli if there were gluten-free bread there.

Thank you for thinking of creating a gluten-free menu with gluten-free bread!

  • Amy

Yes, please offer some gluten-free options! Currently, my husband and I don’t dine in your restaurant (even though we like your food) because of my Celiac Disease and strict gluten-free diet. If you introduce gluten-free options (and demonstrate awareness of cross-contamination issues) we would love to eat at your restaurant!

  • lynne turner

I’d definately go to a Jason’s Deli, if one were closer than Riverside, CA.

I am the Celiac support group leader for the east San Gabriel Valley in southern CA. We have about 400 on our mailing list just from Burbank to Pomoan. So maybe you might think of ofening a restrurant near us.

  • carol keele

YES, YES, YES, PLEASE……………MY SON HAS CELIAC DISEASE-HIS EATING IS SO LIMITED. THAT WOULD BE A GODSEND. THANK YOU SO MUCH. WE WOULD DEFINITELY EAT THERE EVERY WEEK, I AM SURE. THANK YOU —– THANK YOU

  • danielle c

I would LOVE having a place to eat at. Since being told that I have Celiac Disease(10/09), I have not eaten out at all. I would be nice to be able to go out somewhere. Please DO IT!!!

  • JB

Bread is not the only issue. It is often the condiments as well. I carry my own salad dressing into restaurants, because I must be so careful. I agree with previous posters who recommended going for a bread close to–or better than–the quality of Udi’s. Everything else tastes like a cardboard brick (or so I would imagine). Other options include corn tortilla wraps, sopes, lettuce wraps, and rice and nori (California roll-ish item).

  • JB

btw: I went into the Jason’s in Round Rock, TX, recently and asked for GF suggestions and was told they didn’t have any. I left, disappointed. I thought later that the guy simply did not wish to take time to think about it. Several options exist without ordering a sandwich, don’t they? Many salad bar items, baked potatoes, and fruit plates could be easily assembled to be GF. I have had many restaurants in the Austin area work with me to create a safe dining experience without too much hassle. I was saddened to mark Jason’s off the list of places to take my family.

  • Sydel K.

Are there any Jasons Deli’s in CT? In what states are you located? All of the gluten free breads that I have tried must first be toasted or grilled to taste good (and not like carboard). I would suggest a dedicated toaster for the breads and not risk cross contamination on a grill. Definitely do not put regular bread in the same toaster as the gluten free bread!

  • Holly

I work right around the corner from a Jason’s in Atlanta but don’t frequent it as much as I would like due to limited choices. I would LOVE to see GF bread offered!

  • Carla

We would love for Jason’s Deli to start serving Gluten Free sandwiches. Our son has to have gluten free foods. We love subway type sandwiches but because he can’t eat them we don’t go anywhere they are served. We would so love to be able to go to a place that also could provide food for our son so that he didn’t feel left out or that it had to be a place we all avoided so he wouldn’t feel uncomfortable.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE start serving Gluten Free Sandwiches. We will be in the store at least once a week if not more.
    (Hurst, TX)

  • Candi M

My teenage son was diagnosed a year ago and when his friends come over sometimes we like to treat them to a night out. I hate for him to always have to choose steak or chicken (gets kind of expensive too) sometimes he says he just wants to give in. Gluten free bread at Jason’s Deli would be wonderful.

  • Alexis

I can’t tell you how much I would LOVE to order a sandwich again. This is a great idea! You’d be helping so many people. Jason’s would surely get my business if you offered GF sandwiches.

  • Linda

Offering GF Bread would be wonderful! It’s a great idea and it would be so nice to go to someplace & order a gf sandwich. I’m a college student & this would help me eating with friends a lot.

  • Rachel

I would love gluten free options but I agree with the numerous others who have posted. I worry about cross contamination and Udi’s is the best option for bread choice.

  • Tammy

My 9 year old twins were both diagnosed w/ celiac last fall. Before that, ate at Jason’s Deli in Overland Park, KS, almost weekly. We miss it SO much, and adding GF bread would let us come back to one of our family’s favorite restaurants!!! Udi’s has the BEST bread we’ve found. Thank you so much for thinking of this!

  • John Nicholson

I just randomly discovered this today when eating at the Houston rice village jasons. First of all it was delicious, had to wait a little bit as the staff hadnto find a manager who knew what the sign was about. Also the register still rang it up as wheat bread (it wasn”t fully setup right in the register).

Minor things considering i just had the first store bought witch in 13 years.
Awsome btw with the Santa fe and the rouben. I will be back for more.

  • Stephanie

I encourage you to continue your efforts and add GF breads. What a treat to get a sandwich out. At work we don’t order from Jason’s because I can’t really eat there, so all are considerate. With the new linkages in GF being very beneficial for children with ADD and autism–it would give families a great dining opportunity for all.

  • Kari Parfait

Thank you soooo much for offering GF bread at your Beaumont-Dowlen location! I tried it the other day and LOVED IT so much I’m purchasing a loaf today with my lunch order. :)
I do hope you expand the GF option to the rest of your stores. It was such a delight to be able to sit in a restaurant and enjoy a sandwich again… Sounds silly, but not if you are gluten intolerant like I am.. Salads start getting tired after awhile.

  • Diane Everett

I have celiac disease. I was diagnosed over 10 years ago and have been on a gluten free diet ever since. It is critical that I stay on it, but I do enjoying eating out. However, my opption are limited, especially in sandwiches. In fact, in my are of Tidewater, VA there is only one restaurant I know of that offers a gluten free roll that can be used for a sandwich. And, it is very limited. I believe they only offer a hamburger (I think it’s called Burtons). Please, Please, Please start offering gluten free sandwiches. I have only been to Jason’s deli 1 time, getting a salad. I would certainly go more if you offered food I could eat. Thanks for considering this.

  • kendell

Gluten free bread/sandwiches would be so awesome! Having Celiac disease/and being allergic to gluten can make eating out almost immpossible! Gluten free bread that taste good is not an easy task! I have finally found one that tastes like real bread! Breads by Anna is the best Gluten free bread I have ever had…so if you are looking for suggestions…try it out. If Jason’s could offer this bread or a similiar receipe, I would eat there more often that I already do! Build your own sandwiches without bread gets old after a while, so the GFree bread would be a most welcome change! Something not many resturants offer! Thank you for taking notice!

  • http://www.glutenfreesurvivor.com/ Kristen

I just read the EXCITING news that Jason’s Deli will be serving their sandwiches on gluten-free Udi’s bread (Yum!) starting in July!!

Thank you Jason’s Deli for giving those in the gluten-free community another delicious option when eating out. I will definitely support your company with my patronage and spread the word to others…

  • Mary Jane Tesh

I would definitely be a regular customer at Jason’s Deli if they offered a gluten-free sandwich. I have celiac disease and my children have the genes for celiac. It would be wonderful if Jason’s Deli offered gluten-free sandwiches. A gluten free prep area would definitely be needed to avoid cross contamination. I understand Udi’s has come out with a great gluten-free bread. Thanks for all your efforts to help out many people.

  • Kimball

It would be a great blessing as my 5 year old has Celiac and it’s hard to find anywhere to eat out for a treat for her.

But I would also emphasize that cross-contamination is always a concern for those who truly have Celiac. If a restaurant has a gluten free menu, but can’t assure me the food has been prepared separately without contamination, I can’t do it.

Thanks for seeking this out, Jason’s Deli would be on our VERY short list of places we could eat out if you were to do this!

  • Tammy

I used to eat at Jason’s Deli on a regular basis before I was diagnosed with Celiac. I would greatly appreciate being able to order a GF sandwich! My husband and I will eat there as soon as I am aware the option is available. Thanks!!

  • Natasha

You have some great feedback already, but I just want to say this would be most welcome. I hope it would come to all locations. I would be very excited and hope this is available soon. Thank you very much for considering those that must avoid gluten!

  • KL Casey

It looks like the success of a gluten free sandwich would benefit Jason’s Deli. And those that don’t know to come vote would come eat the sandwich with the appropriate promotion. There is a huge market here, please do not ignore it.

  • http://www.annflaherty.wordpress.com Ann

Is it true…will you be offering gluten free sandwiches? I do miss eating Jason’s Deli and would definitely go back if I could get those yummy sandwiches gluten free!

  • Nickie Brown

Gluten free would be great but please let them be yeast free also. That would be the best!!!

  • Lynne

OMG – I cannot even imagine how fantastic it would be to walk into a deli and order a GF sandwhich. Go Jason’s Deli!!! Thank you!

  • Nina

There are 4 people in my family that could benefit from this so we would LOVE to see it out there. There are not many affordable restaurants to get gluten-free food. Please know that while some people consider oats gluten-free, many gluten-intolerant people still can’t eat them. And please be mindful of the preparation method so that you can assure your gluten-intolerant customers that their sandwich won’t be contaminated with gluten. Thanks!

  • Carol Salter

I’ve just been diagnosed with wheat intolerance. Gluten free would be soooo awesome. We just moved to Legacy Apts at Crossroads, so we would be frequent patrons of a restaurant that offers gluten free. OMGoodness…what a dream it would be. I hope Jason’s offers sweet potatoes, too…not just Irish potatoes.

  • http://www.northtexasgig.com Betty

We Texans would love to have more gluten free options at a place like Jason’s Deli. There are many really bad gluten free breads/buns, but if your kitchen researchers could come up with a winning bun or bread recipe, this would be a real win/win for everyone with celiac or gluten sensitivity. Udi’s makes the best over the counter bought bread, so I would start there without having to experiment with recipes. They are headquartered in Colorado.

  • Casey Hart

I had a gluten free sandwhich at Jasons Deli today and it was amazing. I have never had such wonderful tasting bread. Please keep making it!

  • maureen

Just had a gluten free sandwich at the Deli in Naples Florida. One of my best days EVER since finding out that I was gluten intolerant 4 years ago. I miss sandwiches so much–yours was wonderful, and the bread was very high quality. Anyone eating it would love it, and not know they were “missing” a thing! PLEASE keep this feature!!! THANK YOU a million times!

  • Kath

Please let us know which stores offer gluten-free bread (or have signs posted within the stores)! I visit Jason’s Deli all the time but I only ever can order the salad bar. I was in there just yesterday but didn’t see any mention of a new gluten-free bread.

  • Sharon Z.

THANK YOU JASON’S DELI for listening, I just had my first sandwich on gluten free bread at your Fort Myers, FL location last night and it was delicious! The manager and staff at Jason’s Fort Myers is one of the best in the industry. Friendly service EVERY time you visit and they cater to those of us with special dietary needs. They are nicer than the waiters in most expensive restaurants around town, that says a lot!

  • http://www.ranchman.com Dave Ross

I was excited that you had gluten free bread. I even told friends about it before trying it. When I ordered the two gluten free pastrami sandwiches. It has been ten years since I had one of those. I told the order taker that toasting the bread where you toast other bread will cross contaminate it. It will be safer for me to eat it untoasted. They had no idea about the cross contamination issue. You do have disclaimers on your products. I was sick for three days and it takes months for intestinal villi to regrow to the point that nutrition absorbtion returns to near normal. The staff in my restaurant prepare gluten free Chicken Fried Steak, creamed gravy and fried green tomatoes. They are aware of the cross contamination of contact surfaces and open containers. Please send out a training update for staff alerting them how sick they can make someone by not changing gloves or using mayo with the same spatula. The pastrami sandwich was great.

  • Annie

Please keep the gluten free bread at Jason’s! I love it! It would be great if you could offer a GF dessert other than ice cream, as well.

  • Shannon

So excited about the gluten- and dairy-free bread at our local store! However, is your meat also gluten free? Also, if you’re going to provide this option, you will have to train your employees about cross-contamination.

  • Kevin

My family had lunch at the John’s Creek, GA Jason’s this past Sunday and we were really thrilled to see the new gluten-free bread option.

My GF son had a kid’s ham sandwich on GF bread and he loved it! Usually when dining out we need to take food with us for him to accomodate his dietary needs, it is really great to be able to buy right off the menu at Jason’s!

  • Janet

I have fond memories of eating muffalettas with my then-boyfriend/now-husband at Jason’s in Dallas during law school. Now I’ve just learned that you offer gluten-free bread in some of your locations. My 13-year old daughter has celiac disease and our family would LOVE to walk in to a Jason’s in Texas (in the DFW area, please) and order one of your delicious deli sandwiches on gluten-free bread! It would make our family so very happy!

  • Marilyn

I WAS SO PUMPED TO HEAR JASON’S HAD GF BREAD! i eat there all the time and will definitely be ordering it from now on!

  • Kristina

My office is right by Jason’s Deli in Atlanta Ga (Buckhead location) and I’ve been enjoying eating lunch there 2-3 times a week. Its been so great to eat sandwiches again!

I’m so glad you all picked better bread like Udi’s since not all manufacturer’s have discriminating taste. Udi’s has great texture, taste and softness.

I also liked that the Gluten Free kits were stored seperately with prep plates, etc. to help minimize cross containmination.

Thanks Jason! Now I look forward to sandwiches again, especially the California Club!

  • Cyndi Grimes

I enjoyed a GF Turkey Sandwich at your Beaumont location. It was great! I called and inquired about purchasing a package of the Udi’s bread. I was DISAPPOINTED when the Manager told me it would cost $11.99 per loaf. I just ordered off of Udi’s website and with shipping it cost me $2.50 less per loaf.

  • Kathryn Goddard

I went to the Jason’s Deli in Topeka KS following my boyfriend begging me to go. I was so bummed about ANOTHER salad. When we got inside and I saw they had gluten free bread, I was ecstatic.

    Thanks Jason’s Deli!

  • Genevieve Potts

My sister and I ate at Jasons Deli for the first time today and we were thilled to be able to order soup and sandwiches. Udi’s bread is a favorit of ours. We were also glad to learn that delivery is available and that we live about ten blocks away and it is just past Wal-mart.

  • Christine

My son has to eat GF so we are now a GF family! Thank you for providing a WONDERFUL place for my family to eat. Now if you would please open a location in Fredericksburg, VA we wouldn’t have to drive an hour to enjoy your delicious food.

  • Angela

We live in Virginia Beach and have never been to your deli! We cannot eat dairy, gluten, soy or food dyes. I am so excited to learn that you have gluten free bread. I’m calling the local stores tomorrow to verify this! I’m also curious about your deli meats. We avoid the ones with fillers, but from looking at your site, it appears you are likely to have quality meats! I’m so excited. I’d also like to know how cross contamination is avoided. Are all workers trained to prepare the gluten free meals with fresh gloves and on surfaces that have not been touched by gluten? Thank you so much for taking this leap! I am impressed and grateful! Be proud!

  • http://ReginaRowley.com Regina

I came to your webiste to see if you offered gluten free bread. I’m impressed with your interest in what the public wants. I will be visiting the College Station location soon. Hope to find Udi’s bread there! Thanks and keep up the great work! : )

  • K

Please post your gluten-free menu online so plans can be made ahead of time. It will also help to get us familiar with your GF items. Thanks!

  • Jen Bojkov

We are so grateful that you have added GF sandwiches to your menu!! I cannot tell you how thrilled I was when ordering online to see sandwiches come up as an option. I thought at first I had clicked on the wrong button! :) My daughter in particular was so happy to fit in with the rest of the marching band and dig into a sandwich along with the rest of the kids around her. Thank you, thank you!!
BTW- we love the Udi’s bread too!!

Here we go again! Gluten intolerance is now the latest fad malaise. Granted, there are people who legitimately have a gluten allergy, but judging from responses to your poll, it looks like 90% of the population thinks they have it. Seeing as how wheat flour has been a staple of the human diet for a VERY long time, I am wondering how we have survived this long, and prospered to boot. Make some gluten free choices if you will, but please, please don’t make everything gluten free! If you mess with those brownies, I will be highly upset.

Thank you so much for having the gluten free bread! I have not been able to go to a restaurant and eat a sandwich like a normal person in almost seven years since I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. It was delicious and I am so grateful that gluten-free needs are starting to be met by places so delicious like Jason’s Deli. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
