-JOE TORTOICE, CO-FOUNDER

So you were a born leader? Fantastic! But to be a manager at Jason's Deli, that's only part of the equation. We need nurturers. Encouragers. High-energy types. People who love people. Ah, but we're getting ahead of ourselves.

If you asked us what the management structure looks like, you'd hear something exactly like this:

Third Assistant Managers are responsible for specific areas of the deli (sorry, there are no Soft Serve Ice Cream Managers). Training is continued at this time and a list of goals is completed. Third Assistants promote themselves by completing their goals. We promise not to try and load on the homework too terribly much.

Second & First Assistant Managers continue to oversee specific responsibilities. Each level means added responsibility. First Assistant Managers are involved in staffing, training, administrative duties and helping to manage food and labor costs. Yep, you’re being groomed.

General Managers oversee the operation of a single deli. They are responsible for training and development of the Assistant Managers as well as developing strong, loyal customer base through marketing and advertising. You hear that? You get to learn some mad marketing skills.

Catering Managers are the key component to coordinating and overseeing the catering and delivery service, as well as the to-go area and store marketing. They are responsible for assuring prompt and courteous service to customers who dine outside of the deli. Whether it is a guest carrying food out of the deli or ordering online for delivery, the Catering Manager is responsible for completion of orders going out the door. This role also has some responsibility of developing relationships with the area businesses to build sales.
