Train and Develop. Sounds boring, doesn't it?

Maybe we should change the name to "Guidance & Improvement." Or "Coaching & Growth." Because we go about things a little differently around here, and it doesn't include the usual corporate muckity-muck. That's why we have one of the most detailed and comprehensive hands-on training programs in any industry. (Not to mention, fun and life-enhancing.)

All managers are hired as Managers in Training (MIT) and are involved in a 10-week skill-sharpening position training and classroom work. It's a time of fellowship, hard-work and pumping up your leadership, financial and real, good food knowledge.

How does the 10-week program look for our Managers in Training? We're so glad you asked:

Weeks 1-5 - Technical Training

When we say "hands-on" we mean exactly that. So weeks one-through-five are spent learning every position on the deli, deli products and store procedures. So if everyone calls in sick one day except you, you'd have your hands full...but you'd know what you were doing!

During this time, MITs work with the Regional Trainer, other trainees, General Mangers and employees. Remember when we said that we need leaders and people-persons? That comes in handy here.

The learning comes through hands-on instruction, classroom work, videos and computer-based training. Hey, we're trying to mix it up a bit. You don't want to get bored, do ya?

Weeks 6-10 – Developmental Training

Now that you know your way around the deli, it’s time to sharpen those management skills. Weeks six-through-ten are laser focused on all the management aspects of running the deli. We could explain more here, but why give away all the secrets?
