Why We Love Driscoll's Strawberries

Hey Jason's Deli Family!

We recently visited a few of our trusted vendor-partners in California, and we were very impressed (as always) with what we saw. Consumers today understand the importance of knowing where your food comes from. So we want to share what we saw and learned with you.

One of our first stops was to the Driscoll’s farm, and it was absolutely awesome.

If you’ve ever had our Strawberry Shortcake, a fruit cup or even a catering fruit tray, you know just how delicious our strawberries are. We’re proud to say that’s no coincidence. It’s the result of a great partnership with a company whose passion is growing great berries.

With a heritage rooted in growing the most delicious berries, Driscoll’s puts so much effort into each and every carton they sell. You can read more about it on their website.

Our strawberries start with the Driscoll’s Research & Development team, where their experts create and perfect patented varieties of berries through natural cross-pollination techniques (no genetically modified plants here).

They then study thousands of plants, only to choose the top 1% to sell under the Driscoll’s name. This includes the perfected strawberry you enjoy in every one of our hand-made Strawberry Shortcakes and fruit cups.

Seeds from these top-notch strawberry plants are then cultivated and carefully grown in Driscoll’s partner farms.

Here’s the kicker! Once the strawberries are ready for harvest, each one is hand-picked and packaged with care, where it’s then inspected for quality and chilled to 33° for shipping.

Then, each strawberry carton is shipped and distributed to each of our 285+ Jason’s Deli locations. You’ll see these strawberries perfectly sliced and placed on our famous Strawberry shortcake, as well as our Strawberry Cheesecake, fruit cups and fruit trays.

Talk about quality! Next time your Jason’s Deli order includes Driscoll’s fresh strawberries, we hope you can taste the care taken to deliver such a delicious, beautiful berry right to your plate.

“Working with independent growers, each strawberry is hand-picked at peak ripeness to meet our strict quality standards. The secret to our strawberries is our proprietary varieties. We start with thousands of varieties and choose the top 1% to sell under the Driscoll’s name. Rest assured–our naturally grown strawberries are never genetically modified.” -Driscoll’s

Serving wholesome ingredients every day. It’s a family thing.™
